Asus ROG Swift. Is it worth it?

AudaciousGnome

Hi. I'm sorry if this question has been asked a few times before but here goes.

Firstly will I be able to comfortably run it with these specs:

i7 4790k

16GB 2400MHz RAM

GTX 980(will SLI with another 980 in one year)

Second with a monitor that has 144Hz, G Sync and 1440p is it safe to say this monitor has some longevity given its high price right now?

It seems currently the Swift is one of the few(only?) monitors that has the trisector of 144Hz, G sync and 1440p and there aren't many competitors on the horizon.....So say in two years would you think this monitor would still be "good"(i.e. comparable, not better or the best, just comparable to other newer gaming monitors on the market at the time?).

If you are willing to spend the money, then yes. I've had the chance to use one at work a while back, and oh my god, it is amazing.

Hell yes. The monitor is sexy, and it has awesome specs. The downside is the price, but you'll forget about it when you're using it

Agreed the price is the only issue which is why I posed the question about longevity. Can you guys see this monitor being a very good gaming monitor a few years in the future? I know no one can predict the future but right now there don't seem to be any competitors at these specs so is it safe to assume this monitor will have longevity?

There shouldn't be any problem. The average monitor can last the minimum of 5 years no problem.

And the system I have should be more than capable of taking advantage of the features?

Yup. A 980 SLI will be more than enough to do 120/144+ fps in most games at medium/high settings.
