Battlefield 4 Crashes Computer

MrRasher2004

Hey,

So updated my OS from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1, now ever since this update I've had problems with Battlefield 4. At first it wasn't a BIG problem it was just a game crash... But now my Whole PC dies and I go and cry in the corner for 5 Minutes then turn it back on.

Anyway I'm able to get on Battlelog no problem but when using the 64Bit Version, Battlefield will load then at the end of the loading screen when its just about to load you in, it Either crashes my PC or Auto Restarts it (This also happens on the Campaign) Now with the 32Bit version I can play the Campaign fine but when joining a Server I get the same problem as the 64Bit Version.

My Computer Specs:

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Primo Ultimate Chassis
CPU: AMD FX 8350 @ 4.0
GPU: Asus Nvidia 2GB GTX 770
RAM: Kingston 16GB 1333mhz DDR3
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
PSU: Corsair RM Series 750W
COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 AIO Liquid Cooler
HDD1: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD (OS/Software)
HDD2: Toshiba HDD 2TB 7200RPM (Games)
OS: Windows 8.1 PRO 64 Bit

Thanks for anyone who can help! And sorry if I have bad spelling, not very good at typing/writing.

Have you been monitoring your temperatures at all?

Sounds like an unstable overclock on something. Have you overclocked anything?

Nope I've never overclocked, I use the default overclock which Asus give you.

It's not temperature problems, the CPU only goes to about 50c - 60c

Only Rome Total War II has ever crashed my Computer like BF4. I'll also add I reinstalled my Windows yesterday to see if I could fix the problem and got no luck.

Wait. I do remember overclocking my GPU with the Asus GPU Tweak tool. I just put the Boost Clock to 1200Mhz and Memory clock to 7050. Though I thought it could be this too and changed it back to the Default clock.

(To add to this I tested like 5 other games with this Clock speed and they didn't crash)

Hahaha, I wish I could.

When you overclocked, did you touch the Voltages at all? .. lol.. I guess not.

99% sure its software related.  Reinstall the OS and install drivers.  Don't do a "update" install, and don't use old drivers.  Your components may not be 8.1 stable either (I don't know as I am too lazy right now to look it up)

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Sadly no... I was stupid to try in the first place.

Like I said I reinstalled Windows 8.1 Yesterday and installed everything up to date. And I didn't know you could get Compents that didn't work with Windows 8.1 :P I guess if it was anything that didn't work it would be the Motherboard

So after re-installing, it still does it? And it's happened on multiple games?

1. Run memtext86+ for a few hours.

2. run a HDD test for a few hours.

3. Monitor temps of ALL components when you are stressing the system.

4. Run a stress test and see if it crashes.

See if you can get another PSU for a few days to test as well, as it may be the PSU dying.

also, take a look at this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/use-windows-error-reporting-to-help-solve-computer-problems

Hey, Its only ever happened with 2 Games and since I've updated to Windows 8.1. I never had one of these problems on Windows 7.

My PSU I hope shouldn't be dieing its only about 9 Months old. I'll also try runing the Memtext86+ for a few hours

Also the game was on my SSD before and I still had the problem

You may also be getting BSODs and it';s just not giving you a chance to read.

Oh crap. I remembered, It sometimes does that and comes up with the error, I tried searching it and it was a driver issue?

There you go :)

See if you can find the exact information and paste it. It could be a driver issue, or, it could be the driver just crashing for some reason (sometimes because of fault memory or bad overclock or bad motherboard etc).

Towards the end of that article, it shows where windows saves the logs for that. See if you can follow that and open one up.

Or...yeah... just play some battlefield....for science...

well its not necessarily the physical components themselves as much as the manufacture just doesn't make updated drivers for them.  A example of this would be like UEFI support for older motherboards, some motherboards physically support UEFIs but still use BIOSs instead.  The manufacture just doesn't want to do it, for whatever reason.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

HOLY COW! I fixed it... I was a idiot when reinstalling my Windows and forgot to do all the updates and reinstall all the drivers.

(The only reason I never installed them was because it used the Windows.old drivers.) I know I failed.

Well time to go install my new NZXT Kraken X61 :D
