Moto X 2014 Dented Dimple?

YellowMenace

I just recently got a Moto X 2014 and within the 3 days I've had it, I noticed a substancial dent on the dimple.

This thing has stayed in my pocket, with nothing else with it, or on my bed.

Has anyone else had this happen to their Moto X?

It's not very substantial, but this is a brand new phone. It didn't have it out of the box either.

I'd have to get pics in a little bit.

I've also got a 2014 Moto X, no visible damage to speak of. I do tend to be pretty gentle with my phone though, seeing as it never wears a case.

I'm not rough at all with my phones. I've only really dropped my (now deceased) phone, like, once about 1 1/2 years ago. And that was from about 4 feet, nothing happened to it asides from some scratches on the corner.

Curious, I don't think I've seen that happen with a phone in that sort of situation before. Especially when it's a recessed part, where you'd expect the least damage to occur.

On a side note, I'm thinking of getting this phone. Would you recommend that I get it or something like a nexus 5?

Wait a week and get the One Plus One, the Nexus is a good device but it's almost a year into its update cycle so you might get less support and LG didn't seem to give a shit with testing. 2/2 of my Nexus devices have been faulty, first was dead pixels, 2nd a broken vibration module.

Ouch, that's unlucky with the nexus.

I could get a OPO pretty much right now, I know people who can give me an invite, but I'd rather not pay the upfront cost of it, as I'm hoping to upgrade my contract soon, that's why the moto x and nexus were what I was looking at. (I can't stand samsung devices after I had two, htc is either too expensive or underspecced, lg is too expensive and Sony is ugly IMO)

I am loving it. It's quick, pretty stock android, and nicely weighted and balanced. And the feel of metal and wood is refreshing over metal and plastic.

I'm not sure on whether to get the wood, resin or leather one. The wood one is lighter in colour which is refreshing, but I don't like going able to see the IR sensors on the white front. The resin one is darker, so covers the IR sensors, but is still plastic, which I'm fed up of now. The leather one is very premium, but will wear out/tear relatively quickly if not cared for (I don't mind the worn/weathered look).

Use Moto Maker and make yourself a wood one with a black front. As far as I know the rubber finish on the plastic wears off, the leather wears quickly due to the lack of flex that the leather needs, and I was worried about the wood and hand moisture, but it's held up perfectly.

You're in the UK right, so if you are going to get the N5 on contract I believe the only place you could get the 32GB model was o2, might be another barrier. Not sure about the Moto X but the folks on TWIT seem to say it has terrible battery life, N5 isn't that great for battery but it'll get you through a 9-5 listening to music and occasional browsing. Given your choices I'd say Motorola if you're worried about getting a faulty device, it could still happen but the folks over at LG, erh. But I'd still say try and grab a One Plus if you can save for it, although to be impartial there have been reports of screens going yellow and batteries exploding in the One Plus but most phones get reports of the last one.

It's only bad if you use it nonstop. For me, it can easily last through an average day. Just remember to charge it every night and you're good.
