Wow can no longer run on a toaster!

Chelsi_Gamer

For many years, Blizzard published the bare minimum to play Wow but it was only for questing. Now as the new one is releasing they finally realized that most people will be doing things that require a lot more power. So finally realistic specs are published so that you'll be able to do large scale pvp/big raids on low settings without a slide show. Assuming you meet the minimum.

The old requirements was like a 6600 gt and a p4 lol. HD 3000 will allow you to raid at 1366x768 in low settings if paired with an i3 or i5.

They did overhaul the graphics but they did that the last 2 expansions. They finally put realistic specs to play every aspect.

These are nowhere close to being equals. Especially since wow only runs on 2-3 threads effectively (not saying load distribution, effective threads).

System specs are always so indifferent about Intel and AMD equivalents...sigh.

Yes that threw me off too. Not only is a i5 far more powerful than a 4100, the Super bad single threaded performance makes it worse. A g3258 at 4.5ghz would crush a 9590 in WoW for example.

It would crush it at stockspeeds...

It's still a poorly optimized game. Getting 35fps in 25m raids with an overclocked i5 is not acceptable.

You know WoW is a CPU bound game, right? The gpu should hardly matter in this situation.

Thank god someone else gets this... who cares if it runs on a 10 year old notebook if it doesn't do any better on a cutting edge PC...  Blizz should just make console games if this is how much effort they are going to put into the programing and design.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Even in a CPU bound game the GPU is still a factor, even if it only adds 25% extra

I'm well aware of that. Most casual players are going to see exceptionally high fps. In turn, they will be extremely pleased with their in-game experience. However, for the few that raid 25 man hard modes, all those spell effects will wreak havoc on any modern system.

When not in raids, I get 150+ fps with everything maxed out. Truthfully though, that doesn't mean shit.

Blizzard is lazy. They could easily rebuild the code and make the game more efficient.
