NO!!!

That series of rounded coolers by zalman is awful. They perform decently well but are quite loud and are monsters to install. I benched that specific one against a hyper 212 evo and plus and the evo and plus came out ahead.

I'd grab this if you CAN'T get an evo http://www.ncix.com/detail/be-quiet-shadow-rock-slim-50-96124-1246.htm?affiliateid=7474144

or put in $15 more for the one that is 1 step up

The CNPS9900MAX is a nice little cooler, i used to have one on my Q6600 rig if i recall.

Ignore the 212 EVO fanbois, it performs well and i quite like the look of it tbh. For $25 it's a steal.

I'm not a fanboy... I own literally both of those. It performs slightly worse, is slightly louder, and is worse to install.

I can also agree. I had one of those on my Q6600. Pure trash. Now I got a Thermalright True Spirit. So much better in every way except trying to cut my fingers.

Yet i found benchmarks stating that it isn't far off my Scythe Ninja III's performance, and it's quieter.

I've done the benchmarks myself on 3 different platforms. My NH-U14S beat them all, followed by my EVO, then the Zalman one. The Zalman was the loudest among them.\

Anyways I recommended a Be Quiet! cooler anyways.

That's nice.

I've done them myself with different results. And much more thorough benchmarks than maximumpc.

The only spot where it beat the EVO was full load temps.

Pretty close to the Noctua NH-D14 according to Overclockersclub.  ;)

Man, this things ugly. But that's just me.

Anyway, I agree with the Hyper 212. I tried the updated version for a friend's PC, the Hyper 212X. It has roughly the same price (at least in my country), and has a better fan.

That style of Zalman coolers was really popular years ago when they first came out, but the tower style cooler made them obsolete.

I have that one but that was some time ago.  I kind of find it easy to install pretty much the same as others but

for cheaps 212 or the 212 evo or the other 212 something. I recall there were 3 as the 212 evo being the newer one. not sure if there were 3 or 2 but I know there are more than 1 212 model.

but you can also get a noctua nh-d14/d15 and if it doesn't fit then just punch a hold on your side panel to make it fit >.<
