It's just a laptop without a screen. I'm not thrilled, it should have a desktop GPU.

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

It was powerful enough that gamespot had to compare it to a PC as to make the xbone not seem inferior to even this piece of crap.

Sickening.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Never used one of their desktops but I have had about 4 laptops from Alienware over the years, each one has been impressive (my m18x for a 2 year old thing is still a beast)

Never noticed bad PSUs, though honestly, I am not much of a PSU snob providing it doesnt explode, its easily replaceable/upgradable too, and should be under warranty with your machine

But it's dell, which means it's well-built.

That is arguable.

And if something was to go wrong with it you have to deal with shitty tech support that you cannot understand,

I really hate how all of you guys complain for days about Alienware no matter what it is. This is a console/pc hybrid (what's it's supposed to be), treat it like one. For $550 you get a "console" that's better than an XBONE and PS4, why complain? And it's a great entry level PC if you don't fell like using it like a console. Although, I wouldn't use it as a main PC.

My thoughts? The same as every other Alienware product. An overpriced turd filled with generic parts.

Price breakdown:

10% generic parts

50% quality parts that they can't cheap out on

40% for the name

It delivers similar performance to the current consoles, but is half the size and basically the same price. Sure it doesn't have quad swag titans, but its not going for that either. Its products like this that will be needed for converting console gamers to PC gamers.

I like the form factor, if it doesn't throttle and run too loud I'll consider buying one.

An itx build with G3258 and 750Ti is all you need for the console killer.

They made waves when they revealed it at CES 2014 because the original claim was that it would be competitively priced with the PS4 and X-bone. As a result, people assumed it would be around $400, but of course they settled on $550. The strange thing for me with this product is the 360 controller dongle that takes up a USB slot. They couldn't have found a way to integrate it directly into the system? Seems kind of primitive.

Either way people are going to complain, but at the end of the day if you want a good looking PC in this specific form factor good luck finding something else in the same range. There still isn't a console-esque ITX chassis in this form factor that you can buy on the consumer market. All ITX cases are cubes, so as much as I like a case like the BitFenix Prodigy, it isn't something I would throw under my TV, and many people share the same opinion.

3x Dell U2414H Triple Monitor Surround @ 5760x1080 / Corsair Obsidian 900D / ASUS ROG Z97 Maximus VII Hero / i7-4790K @ 4.4GHz / 2x EVGA SC GTX 780Ti SLI @ 1150MHz / 16GB GeiL DDR3 RAM @ 2133MHz / 120GB Samsung 840 EVO / Corsair AX1200W PSU

I assume the reason it is not integrated is that it was meant to use the steam controller and steam OS.. but since that did not come out, they just include a 360 pad and a custom OS

Erm yes there are?

RVZ01 case

Aerocool QS101

Antec ISK

etc etc there are a few console shape cases

The cheapest Alpha isn't overpriced. But the better it gets the more EXPENSIVE it is

fixed it :)
