Let's see, Samsung Chromebooks, i3 @ 1.99ghz lenovo laptops, but most the computers are these awful dell desktops with Pentiums (can't really check specifics) that are fast enough but can be mad loud as people turn up the fans...

Considering that all the computers are pretty much used for web browsing and typing, they are just fine as they are...

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

Im doing engineering at uni, our building is only 2 years old and has alot of tech inside. all the work stations are now i5 4570s. (they actually spend money on us) quite a few rooms have a couple with quadros and i7s instead. and then there's the basements with flight simulators.

At the office I use a Samsung Series 9 NP900X4D-A01 with a 128GB 840 EVO (the original Sandisk U100 was slooooooow) and 8 GB of low-voltage Adata DDR3-1600 CL9 memory.

However most of the time I work at home, which means the gaming rig is my main work PC.

All of the CS labs are fitted with NUCs running Ubuntu.  I believe they're all the i3 versions, no idea how much storage each has cause school accounts are limited to 500mb of storage.

Its Pentium IIIs (1GB RAM).

Intel Core 2 Duos (2GB RAM).

Intel Core i5 3470 (8GB RAM),

Intel Core i5 3210M (8GB RAM),

Intel Core i7 3XXXM (8GB RAM)

All run 7 Enterprise 64Bit. The Pentiums are painfully slow.

My university just has imacs. All the imacs.

everywhere?, at my uni they use mac's in the library's and math's lab - but in my main computer lab we use dell's with i7's with 16gb of ram since there mainly used for mapping and remote sencing

the engineering lab computer's run dual 24's which makes me wish I did a engineering degree

Its all about those volumetric clouds

My high school has amazing internet (200mbps wired). It has OK desktops and crappy laptops.

It really sucks being an engineering student who needs a laptop for every engineering class and it runs the CAD programs like crap. We do have a couple workstations with Nvidia Quadros but they're for the fashion design class of all things. Meanwhile, those of us running simulations, 3d modeling, and precision wind tunnel instruments get left out in the cold.

My PC: MSI X99s SLI PLUS///Intel i7 5820k///Corsair H100i///Crucial DDR4 12GB///EVGA Supernova Gold 750w G2///ASUS GTX 1080 Strix///Phanteks Enthoo Luxe///Intel 730 240GB SSD///WD Blue 1TB///Intel 6250 WiFi
Current Peripherals: Sennheiser HD598///Corsair K70 LUX///Logitech MX Master///Razer Destructor 2///Saitek X52///Acer X34 Predator

I.T. Is always the department where the cash that's leftover from all the other departments go to, There isn't usually a really high budget for new laptop every year at most schools. That's why most schools have crappy I.T.

same, apparently a lot of schools have this

That was probably an opinion

My school just upgraded to Lenovo ThinkCenters running pentiums and 4 gig of ram (and windows 7 enterprise 32 bit...). They're ok but not great. They also have a number of really bad netbooks laying around for student use, they run atoms with 2 gigs of ram and the same windows 7 enterprise 32 bit.

My TAFE isn't as bad. I'm not sure about the PCs they have there, but in the music production class room I have class in they have some of the highest end iMacs (quad core i7s, 27", 780M, 32 gigs of RAM and a 256 gig SSD). However, they also have them set up in "deep freeze", so it wipes the drive when you log out/it crashes. Could be worse though.

Normandy - Intel Core i5 3470, 8 GB Corsair Vengenace LP, EVGA GTX 960 SSC, Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP, WD Blue 1 TB, Seagate 320 GB (steam), Seagate 320 GB (experimental, second OS, etc), Windows 8.1 + Ubuntu 14.10

Garrus - HP Stream 11
