Then when are G sync/Adaptive sync non TN monitors coming?

Couldnt tell you. The problem is IPS has motion blur and slow response times. But we may see better panels in the future.. I think everyone who enjoys 120/144hz would kill for an ips 120/144hz with gsync/freesync  :lol:

I understand what G sync and Adaptive sync do to eliminate screen tearing, stuttering , and lag. If you run at higher frame rates than your monitor's refresh rate, you get screen tearing, but enabling v-sync creates lag. If your framerate drops too far below your monitor's refresh rate, you get stuttering. G sync and Adaptive sinc both solve thiese problem, BUT ARE ONLY IMPLEMENTED ON F***ING TN PANELS!!!!!

 

So my question, assuming my framerates are above my monitors refresh rate (60+) AND I successfully overclock the monitor (70Hz+), would I get the same effect as G sync, but only on a non s*** TN panel monitor?

I understand what G sync and Adaptive sync do to eliminate screen tearing, stuttering , and lag. Actually, I can think of a few

-For starters, it's not native 120hz. It states, "up to" 120Hz, so, it's a 60Hz panel one could overclock up to 120Hz, maybe, if you're lucky. One guy in the comments got 115Hz, not quite 120, is it?

-Secondly, no on screen display. No on screen menus, good luck calibrating it

-Thirdly, only has a single DVI input. That's pretty garbage connectivity by todays standards

 

So, even if you could get ahold of a G-sync module, there's no guarentees you'll get the full 120Hz, and with no display port, your monitor will be useless anyway

 

Trade-offs... Because in the tech world you can't have everything for nothing

All of your so called "trade offs" aren't even practical? Like seriously? You complain about the video port out, having to do some homebrew overclocking, and no on screen display? You have got to be kidding me! I haven't touched my monitors settings EVER, using DVI-D port right now, and overclocked my monitor from 60Hz to 80...

 

Now about that G sync. It will probably never use anything other than Display port, so depending on how hard it is to implement that onto a monitor, you could argue it will not come to previous non Display port monitors, needing new revisions.

All of your so called "trade offs" aren't even practical? Like seriously? You complain about the video port out, having to do some homebrew overclocking, and no on screen display? You have got to be kidding me! I haven't touched my monitors settings EVER, using DVI-D port right now, and overclocked my monitor from 60Hz to 80...

You asked me what the trade-offs, or downsides to that monitor were, I told you

 

Here's the problem with no on-screen display. A monitor being IPS doesn't guarantee it's colours are inherently more accurate. And uncalibrated monitor will not produce colours accurately. How does one calibrate a monitor, aside from needing special tools, you also need to go into the menu to adjust settings.

 

Considering DVI is being phased out in favour of display port, I doubt G-sync is every going to be DVI compatible. New revisions might give you the option to have a seperate, non g-sync device plugged in at the same time, but your guess is as good as mine.

 

So, you're still arguing this point of trying to mod a g-sync module onto an IPS monitor, so here's the TL;DR version:

 

 

You can't have an IPS G-sync monitor, the technology just isn't there

Low refresh rates are a limitation of IPS, a new panel will have to be created in order to get the best of IPS and TN on the same screen.

 This totally disproves the "ips cant have g-sync caus dey has teh lags" comments. I MIGHT be able to believe the comments about goasting, but most games have motion blur ON by default.

Second of all - "teh lags" has nothing to do with it. If the response time on that monitor was 9ms, then motion blur on it wouldn't be horrendous

 

So, until you get a NATIVE 120Hz IPS display, you can't have a G-sync IPS display. I'm not being a close minded asshole. Hell, I want the 5960X priced at $400, but I ain't going to get it. Why? Because technology says we're not at a point where I can have an 8 core CPU for that money

Well, I can tell you this much, that BenQ RL2460HT is designed for playing fighting games, if it had that much display lag, Street Fighter IV would be unplayable, literally, you would go online, and play people who all have Asus VE248H's and lose, just because they have a better monitor

 

So, I think their numbers are wrong anyway. 9 vs. 5-2, some people complain about motion blur on 5ms displays, which is generally considered to be the upper limit of a gaming monitor anyway

Wow, didn't even know about all that. I guess I am just sad any other panel types that give more accurate colors (like ah-va, pls, etc) don't have, and might not have g-sync :(
