Moto x(2014) or moto g(2014), the moto x is on the big side matching your max of 5.2 inches but has better specs and both phones have been announced to get android Lollipop 5.0 so theres a plus

I actually am planning on buying the Moto G (2nd Generation) myself. It's a nice phone for the price.

I personally don't want a phone from Motorola anymore. What about the Z3 Compact or HTC One M8?

They're pretty expensive. Most of them suggested lower priced but still capable phones. What's your budget? And why go for the compact rather than the regular Z3?

Why not? The Moto G was a huge game changer for Motorola and has been one of their best selling phones for obvious reasons.

HTC one m8 is a taller phone than the moto x with only a 5 inch display due to their speaker design (motorolla has front facing speakers but not as big) personally I would go with the z3 compact over the HTC one m8 unless you like the big phone and the all aluminum design.

Edit damn you mobile devices

I don't know the Z3 I heard is the best "compact" phone compared to the other ones in its categories(Samsung S5 mini, HTC Mini 2, etc.) it has a good battery and 4.5" is a nice size. Plus its nice to save 150 euros :). also lg g3 is significantly cheaper than the other 5" phones here it is bigger but its packed w awesome stuff and 491 euros. hmm

Well it does hit every requirement that you have listed for only $179.99. Sure it's the same company, but it's not the same phone. The Moto G would be a huge upgrade from any existing Razr.

Well technically Moto G is a Google product branded as Motorola since they owned Motorola during the time they were developed. The 2nd gen, if anything, it's a Lenovo product :P

Regular Z3 is huge, the compact squeezes all the power and glorious specs and features of the full size Z3 into a much more compact, pocketable, and easy to hold form factor. It's really the only choice as far as "mini" phones go as both the HTC One Mini 2 and S5 mini are downgraded in terms of specs to their full size counterparts, and both the HTC and Samsung have the same CPU as... the Moto G.

Yea I think I'll narrow it down to:

Z3 Compact

Maybe even iPhone 5S or 5C(5C however is slower w the older A6 which could make it "too slow" now? but its not so expensive)

Samsung Galaxy Alpha(love the look and feel of this when i held it but the 1870 mAh battery concerns me)

5S/5C aren't worth it when put up against the Z3 Compact and Galaxy Alpha.

The Z3C and Alpha are both great phones, but personally I'd still go with the Z3C. It's cheaper, has a better camera, better battery life, stereo speakers on the front, and a MicroSD slot for expansion. Sony UI is also a lot smoother and less complicated then TouchWiz, and in a few years the speed difference will become larger and larger with software updates. The S4 really struggles to run KitKat with TouchWiz smoothly, whereas the original Xperia Z has no problem running KitKat with Sony UI smoothly.

Sony phones have next to no bloat-ware either. IMO it's better then vanilla android, the skin is enough to make it look a lot less boring yet is very lightweight so it still runs very smooth. And at least Sony kept the Gallery app

iPhone 6+ and make sure you download the Notability app. I personally think it is one of the best notetaking apps for any tablet/phone.

Are there 2 different Nexus 5s? Because I keep seeing people say "Google" Nexus 5 but in my stores I only see LG Nexus 5

this is exactly what the LG G2 is for me. I've been using it since it was released. I find the build quality great. feels good in the hand and not a scratch on it (i use it with a bumper case but no screen protector).

It isn't stock android but i wouldn't say it's bloated either - doesn't have anything in your face and much more pleasant than touchwiz (ugh). It has been out for awhile but spec-wise you won't really be lacking even compared to the latest and greatest. Looks like it is available for around 350euro? i know the australian price for this has gone down quite abit. if you feel like you could handle something larger, perhaps the G3 may be of interest too.

No, the Nexus 5 is created by Google but produced/manufacured by LG. However, the nexus 4(older phone) is produced/manufactured by Samsung but still created by Google. Oh, and the Nexus 7 & 10 are manufactured by Asus. Kinda confusing.
