isnt the hero almost as similar as the hero 3? since they are the base model for their collection? I have a gopro hero 3+ silver, and love it. I dont use for amazing and crazying things, I use mostly for some driving with the car and diving. But i would go with the hero, smaller, newer and has a similar camera res, but just a few extras . Unless you like the traditional silver look on it.

EDIT: I forgot to mention if you like very smooth video look at the silver for hero3+ or hero4base model, they are more expensive, but the 60frames/s on 1080p its very nice when watching on PC. on TV it wont make a difference, since TV only reproduces a 30frames/s anyways.

Everyday Rig: CPU: Intel i7 3930k (stock), Graphics Card: Asus Strix GTX 1080 Advance Edition, Ram: 32Gb 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance, Storage: 128Gb Samsung 830, 2Tb Seagate Barracuda, CPU Cooler: H100i GTX Noctua F12 iPPC 2000RPM and Gentle Typhoon 1850RPM, Windows 10 Pro, Power Supply: Corsair HX1050 80Gold, Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Keyboard: Corsair K65 Cherry Red,  Mouse: Razer Mamba TE

So color doesnt really affect me considering that the hero 3+ does 1080p 60fps I might get the hero 3+. For the hero 4 i dont really need 4k recording so thats out of the list
