Crossfire R9 290 not displaying anything at all...

My setup:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7

CPU: Intel 3770K

PSU: Corsair RM1000

SSD: Samsung

GPU: 2*Sapphire R9 290

Hi! I'm trying to upgrade my rig, with a new motherboard and a new GPU. But when i plug everything in, the system starts up, but nothing is showing on the screen. When i use the black pci-e16x with just one card everything is working, but when i switch to the orange pci-e16x and two cards nothing is showing.... I've tried to switch the second card to all the other orange pci's but still no results... Can somebody help me? :(

Did you try the second card only to see if it's a functional card?

I've tried both cards, and plugged all power connectors to them. But the problem isn't when i turn on crossfire, but when plug them into the orange connectors, it won't display anything at all... but the machine boots up.

It looks like the black pcie x16 lane works in a different way to the other orange lanes. For crossfire to work you will have to use two orange lanes. You may also have to change a setting in the bios so that it prioritises the orange lanes over the black lane

Hi, do you know where in the bios it might be? My PSU also started making a lot of high pitched noises, so i sent it in to get a new one. Maybe it was the problem?

It might sound silly.. but have you tried testing other outputs from the graphics cards? try moving the monitor cable around :P

could be the power supply. When you get the replacement it might start working (hopefully). As for where in the bios, if it is a bios option it would most likely be in or around the CPU section. Probably best the check the motherboard manual though to make sure that what you're looking for actually does exist

Ok, so no I've tried with an other PSU, CPU and several GPU's.... So it must be something wrong with the MB....

Check the PCI slots on the motherboard, are they loose if you put a little pressure on the side of it near to the lock? - In comparison to the black slot. (Very slim chances but still worth the look)

Also, do you have anything else plugged into a PCI slot? Sound card etc?
