I dare you guys to put that thing in a build. Maybe even compare using that card for physx versus physics on nvidia GPUs? That would be interesting to see. I doubt nvidia cards would perform any worse but still would be interesting to see how much performance progress has been made if any.

herpa derp...I meant to type physx, not physics :P

I'll go fix that

But yes, physics is in many games, like bf4 where the gravitational pull on bullets is independent of the gravitational pull of a planet...so weird

loving this unboxing format

especially since i started following Linus around the R7 240 rant where unboxings weren't a thing

Unbox a Celeron or a Pentium 4 for another Retro unboxing please

Also, the Ageia is still on Amazon for $79.95 http://www.amazon.com/BFG-Ageia-PhysX-128MB-Video/dp/B000FLWCB4/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413193690&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=bfg+ageia+physx+processor

PhysX Card = 980?

lol Yep. Linus Logic.

never mind the 980 has what.... 32 times more VDRAM, plus its GDDR5 (i'm not going to even get into it being Double Data Rate...) and the BFG is GDDR3

i remember trying cellfactor on my 7900GS, it was amazing all the objects flying around the chaos, wanted more games like that, would've gotten the card if i had the money to spare, then nvidia bought it, nvidia physx doesn't support cellfactor, can't enjoy the chaos  (can play with legacy physx driver, the physx enhanced levels don;t work though) and there was nothing similar or even close in physics object interaction or count... garry's mod is fun, but it's nowhere near that...

seeing it, back in the day, i was blown away. Linus please stuff it into a system, and get luke to make a video of cellfactor, benchmarks or something? would be cool people to see what an awesome mind blowing tech demo it was... (yeah you could have videos of it, but it was all real time... it still looks damn impressive today)

Well, co-processors aren't exactly dead as a format. Look at Xeon Phis.

And if nVidia weren't such anti-competitive dicks you could buy one of their graphics cards to use as a PhysX processor next to a higher powered AMD card used for rendering.

Love it!

I used to want one of these so bad.  I still do!  Not that I'd use it, I just want it!

It would have been the perfect partner to my BFG 8800 GTX.
