Retro.

DMMR

First of all, photos are taken with a phone, i´ts actually not that bright. But it does light up a dark room quite nicely :D.

So, after a very long time, i´ve finally done something that i have always wanted.

My love for 478 and AGP started when my brother ditched his old system .. which was a MSI RX2600 and 2.66 P4 on a Abit IS7-E2.

I also have a newer system that i use daily (FX8320 with 7870)

Changed the capacitors around the mosfet area and a old looking one near the chipset.

Now, probably have to find something to cover up the light holes on a few places. Any ideas?

Also, downloading Metro 2033 right now.. CPU will be a terrible bottleneck for sure. But i´l let you guys later know how it performs.

Thanks.

Metro 2033 won't run on that, I would be surprised if it even launched.

Cool though

Well, the cooler is original, i can't do much about that, without the custom plate and as the fan and the shroud was black, i think it wouldn't look better than this.

Nice. My Prototype Development teacher took such a pc to class and showed it to us. It was quite interesting to see how pc parts developed in the last few years.

I once had one of these, now I've got this.

Here's a link to my current collection. I've got a lot of older stuff, but most of it isn't really old enough to be "retro". The SFF Compaq PC is a 1.0Ghz Pentium 3, half a gig of PC-133 RAM I know it says a Celeron, but it was upgraded. Similar cooling to the new Mac Pros really... The 6800 Ultra is in a dual CPU 2.0 Ghz Power Mac G5 with 2 gigs of DDR RAM, the 1/4 hight 5.25" hard drive is 8GB, not really old, just obsucre. It came out of a Celeron HP from a while ago. Something I forgot to mention is that that iPaq also has Windows XP on it, but I'm missing an IDE laptop Optical drive to put in it, and the cable for it as well to reinstall XP so that I can actually use it, because it still has the prevoius owner's Windows install on it, and I don't know the password, so, eh.

@tmcclelland455 You've got quite the collection as well.

Wow, can it run chrome? :D building a system older than the 478 is almost impossible nowadays, lack of components, combability issues and so forth. If you can do anything with that, then it's great.

Okay, so Metro 2033 is for 64bit systems only, but i played Alan Wake, not sure how well optimized it is..but it seems okay, fps ranges from 15-30 (Maxed out graphics).

Funny things is ..i't doesn't feel like lag or stutter, cause the game play's slightly slower to work with lower fps. 22+ fps is already really playable and under 20 still doesn't stop me from playing it, if you guys have any good suggestions for games that might work :) I've played Dead Space 3, Dead Island, Max Payne 3.

i find that gta sa works best. on this kind of system. you should try running a few old benchmarks so i can see how it performs compared to my 478 rig :)

Once i get my hands on my 478 again..i will let you know, what benchmarks do you suggest? only what i can remember is AIDA64 Extreme memory read, which was 7600+ mb/s with the spec. i have listed. I think i got it almost 8000 with a higher 1:1 overclock.
