Ultimate Keycap Replacement Guide

hay anyone know where i can get dampeners for alp switches? i really love my blacks.

Matias quiet switches are your best bet without cannibalizing an old keyboard for em. A long shot might be contacting Matias directly.

I use an SGI 9500900 with Alps dampened creams at work. I definitely love this thing.

You may have to replace the entire slider since I don't think the black ones will have the cutout for the dampeners.

main(i){for(;i<101;i++)printf("Fizz\n\0Fizzz\bBuzz\n\0%d\n"+(!(i%5)^!!(i%3)*3)*6,i);}

Any idea where I could find textured keys that will let back lighting shine though? Love to get some for my k70 rgb

I love the corsair ones but the red colouring kills it for me.

Where do I find those ninja keys? I would really like to also let me see my back light through them on the side.

Max keyboards has translucent side printed keys which is about as close as youll get.

does anyone know where to find black iso 105 front side key caps?

probably ebay should have pbt ones im not sure about side printed it not all that common. feng and qtan are probably your best options.

And what didn't I see in all those links........??????.............. for years I have been using the "Keys-U-See keyboards, yellow with black lettering........... LARGE black lettering helps against the yellow background because I have poor vision. Anybody got the heads up on a decent keyboard or replacement caps for people with needs?

the Keys_U_See boards are so bad you have to replace them every 6-8 weeks. they're not worth trying to fix and they are way over priced for what they are. I have found an AZIO large letter keyboard, but it's black, making it hard to see. The letters are lighted, but the wrong colors and no way to adjust the brightness making it hard for your eyes to adjust......... very bad for near blind persons. The conrast of the yellow and black seems to be the best I've found.

If anybody reads this and can point to something useful ( USA ) it would be helpful. Thank You.

I would contact Signature Plastics. http://www.keycapsdirect.com/customkeycaps.php

I'm willing to bet they could do an extra large font keycap similar to these http://www.pimpmykeyboard.com/deals/rad-hard/

I found this Accuratus Monster2 HiVis. Quality seems good, but it has an odd layout http://www.keyboardspecialists.co.uk/4425-accuratus-monster-2-high-visibility-keyboard

Is it possible to have keys that have see-trough letters, letters are on the side? I haven't found any.

Also, see-trough letters and custom layout? (my native language has quite a few specific letter I'm not comfortable loosing)

I wanted to buy only  a few keys that i've broken in my keyboard, but from what i've seen they only sell either sets or keys with other images....

Plus, they all seem to be US based :/

Another site that might want adding would be https://ctrlalt.io/ they do group buys for keysets and are lovely people to deal with, also a lot of the popular custom keyset have come from them, such as Miami, Hyperfuse and they are UK and US based :)

I really want to one day buy a mechanical keyboard but the only time I tested one was the Logitech G710+ and it really didn't feel that different from a membrane, I guess it was the dampeners, really wish we had a tech shop around here, the only keyboard on display I could find was the g710+.. One day I will join the Mechanical Master Race.. also the linux replacement for windows key were incredible.

There are US, UK, AUS, and China based companies for the most part. AUS doesnt have any full custom stuff that I k of of though.

right, ahem, If anyone could be bothered to help me out, I went through all of the sites listed and I couldn't find what I was hoping for. I'm getting the tramp stamped k95 but i wanted key caps that have that translucent lettering so the RGB shines through, but I wanted it "ninja style" I really like the look of the side printed key caps but I don't want full translucent keys. (reminds me of PS1 and Xbox cheapo madcats controllers) I've come to terms with it not happening but I figured one of you fine ladies or gentlemen might know something I don't.

Translucent side printed does not exist and wouldnt work for most backlight cherry MX board and if it did you would be staring right at the led on standard ones.

As always nice informative video Luke, now I know how to deal with the space-bar as that scares me in changing it out the most, now I know what to do and I just need to try to find white back lit key caps for my Ducky Shine 2 some time.

I've been trying to find these for ages and have only been able to find one place where they sell them.

http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=710

I've been monitoring the page for at least 6 months now, they've been out of stock the whole time.

Also, wasn't able to find an ISO set, so I'm most likely doomed and will have to stay on stock keys.

http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-universal-cherry-mx-translucent-clear-black-full-keycap-set-front-side-print.html

there are tons of youtube videos of this set on K-series keyboards so you can see if you like it.

I bought this set for my K70, its translucent and side printed keys. Looks pretty cool. I happened to get this set on a massdrop about a month ago, they were selling for about $10 less than normal, and I expect there to be another massdrop on the set again in a couple months. The great thing is that this set comes with extra keys to accomodate non standard bottom rows (ir the corsair keyboards) as well as both ansi and iso enter and delete keys, along with a few novelty keys, like a PANIC! key for ESC. The Only downside is that it wont come with any caps to take care of yourmacr keys.

When in doubt, re-format.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm looking for a very specific set of keys that are pbs either dark blue or orange, and have side printing on them(optional). If anyone knows of keys like this a post would be greatly appreciated :) I would prefer a 10 keyless set, but if I have to buy full size i don't mind.

Just a heads up side printing is very uncommon so expect not to be able to get it.

Using ghetto made o-rings on my 7g :) link for those who are interested
