Is there a "folding" for Ebola?

I've just been thinking about Ebola recently and how bad it could be for civilization as we know it. Is there any way to help speed up the process of finding a vaccine for Ebola?

Unfortunately not, at least not in Folding - folding is specific to working on things affected by the folding (or mis-folding) of proteins....

They already have experimental vaccine's for it, they just have not had time to fully test them yet...

I really meant some way I could do what folding does, but for testing Ebola vaccines instead. It would be awesome to know I can contribute to myself not dying. xD

the odds of you or your family dying from Ebola hinge almost entirely on how well it is quarantined, and on travel restrictions in and out of your country. Unless someone in your country is purposefully spreading Ebola, or you live in a country that cannot afford the means to contain it, then you probably have a greater chance of spontaneously combusting. I'm not sure the time it takes to produce and test a vaccine and/or immunization in a lab can be shortcut, not without the ability to instantly replicate organic material like in a sci-fi show/movie.

Folding isn't needed to develop vaccines. The way they usually are made is by cultivating the actual virus, and next the virus is inactivated. Usually this entails damaging the virus particles in such a way that they are no longer dangerous, but still recogniseable by the immune system. The vaccine needs to be tested too. It's hard to know how many applications a vaccine needs until a person is fully immune, and how long the protection lasts. The only way to find out is to try, and then look for antibodies.

Folding has taught us a lot about how the immune system works, but vaccines have been in existance for much longer than folding.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

depending on where you live you probably have a much higher chance of getting cancer than ebola honestly...

To help speed up the process of finding a cure, your best bet would be to donate tons of coffee to the researchers. Most research of this nature is limited by how fast and how long the researchers are willing to work.

Or donate to one of the many charities working in affected areas to help contain the spread and care for the sick...
