Folding Update For MAXWELL Owners

The team stanford realeased an update about Folding on those Maxwell cards:

https://folding.stanford.edu/home/upgraded-maxwell-support-for-core17/

You need to set your flag to "advanced" to get these new ones. If you have any issues, remove the flag.

Name: client-type
Value: advanced
This will tell the slot to check for, and download if available, any "advanced" Core/Projects that may be available to it. Typically when a Core/Project is done with Beta testing, it moves to Advanced availability for more testing, before being put into general distribution.

Please see the FAQ http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/207857-for-folding-users-tips-tricks-and-faq-updated-aug-2014/ for more details

When we were having issues with core 17 back in March I had a feeling that this is exactly what would happen. Nvidia would procrastinate and push off fixing the driver issue until they had high-end variants with a much larger target market. The amount of people bothered by GTX 750tis not having full functionality is minuscule compared to the potential tsunami of irritated GTX 980/70/60 owners.

Also make sure if you run ADV that you also install the latest drivers.

I just double checked and for some reason Nvidia won't offer version 344.16 for GTX 750(ti)s, the 'latest' for them is 344.11 which was released less than a week prior. Do you think the newer driver will cause any issues if I install it anyway?

Yeah, I got nothing. I doubt Nvidia would release a driver without support for one of their more recent GPUs, so it will probably be fine.

go into the advanced client and click on configure in the top left corner, click on the slots tab and click on your gpu slot, then edit. At the bottom you should see extra slot options, click add and type in client-type first then advanced second.

although i, aswell as a bunch of other people are currently unable to do core 17 wu's with gtx 970/980, i tried the advanced flag and it didn't do squat.

Yeah, I just tested it. Doesn't seem to process the file, it will download, hang then remove and redownload a new WU.
