MSI Z97 Mpower have a lot of malfunction and not worth for the price.

On the other hand, Asus maximus series are the best.

Specially Asus maximus VII Hero as @Sintezza mentioned

I can say that as a newb, the Gigabyte z97 bios seems extremely complicated. Which is why I have not fiddled with it other than setting my ram to 1600hz, and my fans to full speed

good to know, i will definitely going to research it.

I think that the Hero is a bit too expensive for op.

i think that the msi Z97 Gaming 5, would be a good board to go.

Isn't it more designed for high overclocking so it might be feature limited/not as intuitive? But from the anandtech overview it seems pretty standard to me. Or is it just very buggy?

@Skreedles is that 100-140 USD?

MSI Z97 Gaming 5. Supports SLI, and has a bunch of other features that are great for its price point.

I personally prefer Gigabyte, but that is in the UK because of their superior support

Imo very solid boards though, and fairly easy to use BIOS

Loving my Asus Z97-K cost me $155 AUD

Pretty nice features, stable as hell with a high BCLK my 4690 needs to OC :)

107 BCLK Stable :)

LOTS of protection features enabled by default.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 5. Has the audio stuff as well as it being among the 2nd best boards for overclocking on Z97, and it's the cheapest of them.

The best boards are SOC, SOC Force and UD7.

If you didn't care that much, you have other options to choose from that I truly don't care to mention. The Gaming 5 from Gigabyte is the most feature-rich Z97 board that's still at a great price. There's not "too much" of anything on it.
