Tesla releasing a new Model 'D'?

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla just tweeted a picture about the unveiling of "the D and something else". Yes, he went there.

Hopefully more to come, but worst case scenario we get all the information in a week.

The front seemed to hint towards a sports car, possibly a revival or followup to the Tesla Roadster. However, unconfirmed leaked images seem to point towards a car that looks just like the Model S from outside, but having the 'D' stand for a Dual-motor model.

Considering he wanted the first three models to be named 'S', 'E' and 'X', I'm not even surprised about this anymore :P

on a more serious note. What kind of car could it be?

 

the Model III is the cheaper car, Model X is the Crossover/SUV, what else could they be working on? Have they ever mentioned anything?

nothing so far. First thing that came to mind was a crazy-expensive sports car, but not sure how well that could differentiate itself from the model S.

They should do something along the lines of the ultra-light Volkswagen XL1 but have 400hp electric motors on it  :lol:
