What are the best DSLR and 4k Video cameras?

Hello once again community. I am in the market for a DSLR camera and a 4k video camera. I have been looking around and wanted your guys opinions. Preferably don't want to spend more than like $5500 - $6000 usd on these combined, but if there is an equivalent option for a lower price I am all for that.

The two I am looking at right now are linked below:

Video camera

DSLR

Again thanks for the help

That "Red Epic" camera looks godly, I think LMG uses them right? Also, I'm pretty sure MKBHD also uses kick-ass gear.

LMG uses a Sony FS7000 (I am 90% sure but not positive) And the only channels that I know of using Red Cameras are MKBHD and CorridorDigital.

LMG uses the Sony FS700 and an external recorder. MKBHD uses a Red camera though, not sure exactly which one.

On topic - If you were Ok with combining the DSLR and the video camera there's the rather nice GH4 from panasonic. It does have some comprimises in terms of sensor size when compared to Canon and Nikon's DSLR options though.

Normandy - Intel Core i5 3470, 8 GB Corsair Vengenace LP, EVGA GTX 960 SSC, Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP, WD Blue 1 TB, Seagate 320 GB (steam), Seagate 320 GB (experimental, second OS, etc), Windows 8.1 + Ubuntu 14.10

Garrus - HP Stream 11

ok this is my thought if you want the best bang for buck and highest rate 4k then go

Panasonic GH4K + Panasonic Lumix DMW_YAGH Interface unit + AJA ki pro quad

And you will have a beast camera and 4k video recorder in one. But if you think the AJA is too expensive you can go for the : Convergent Design Odyssey7Q Raw OLED Monitor & Recorder

RED EPICS are good but they cost way more, just for the unit, you still need to buy lenses, for them , and each lens will cost you atleast $1,000USD each + cables etc.

You're implying like $1k per lens is a bad price...

While yes, it's expensive, if you're doing ANYTHING serious, you should invest more in the glass than the body itself (general rule of thumb, more so for DSLR's)

Sony FDRAX1 and pair it with a Canon 70D (OR 7D) if you're mainly doing 4K video. You could go Panasonic GH4 and a 7D Mark II or even a 5D Mark III/6D. Have you factored in other stuff - tripods, bags, flash cards and the rest?

Well, RED EPIC hands down.

But for the price, I don't think majority of us can afford one.

There are alternatives such as the A7s with the Atomos Shogun, Panasonic GH4 for in-camera 4K, Sony F5/F55, Canon 1DC, and so on.

I personally cast my vote on the Sony A7s since its ISO performance is wonderful and unheard of in terms of retaining color and detail fidelity when ramping up the ISO to even above 25600 where most cameras show loss of detail, image noise becomes heavily noticeable, and dynamic range is pretty much tested to its limits. Plus, since it has no flange distance because it is a mirrorless system, you can buy adapters and buy vintage lenses which may either cost a steal or a fortune compared to the newer lenses. Or... buy a Metabones speedbooster and use either old or new lenses on it (depends on mount though)

1K for glass is not a bad price I own a few 1K+ glass, but look at his budget it's 5-6K,

Yeah. I'm honestly thinking of switching to one if I can find one in Australia for a decent price.

It has a shitload of features, especially for video. It's one heavy body also.

tho if you can't afford that, just by it self the gh4k is still superb, you can also just add the interface unit.

I reckon this whole thing is all wrong. Why do you need a 4k camera specifically? Why do you need a DSLR separately? What will be filmed and photographed? 6000 is a LOT of money. Usually when you are prepared to spend such a sum of money you already no a thing or two about the stuff in question. And i assume you dont because those bundles you linked are crap. All those accessories are chinese crap that will break and function very poorly. No offence man but this smells like a kid with too much money too spend being in market for something he doesnt really need. I might be horribly wrong of course.

That being said, if i had 6000 bucks to spend on stuff like this id get CANON 5D mark3 with some nice universal luxury glass(good lens i mean) and PROPER accessories. Good memory cards, tripod, carrying case, additional battery, maybe a flash or video light, a remote control,, cleaning kit, some filters.

Dont bother with that 4k nonsense for this budget, 1080p you'll get from the 5D will be more than enough.

And BTW you cant get a better DSLR than 5D anyway.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1028453-REG/panasonic_dmc_gh4kbody_lumix_dmc_gh4_mirrorless_micro.html

Get a Panasonic GH4 you get both in one camera. It take good still  at 12 FPS burst rate as fast as 1Dx and it also do 4k 8 bit 4:2:0 internal, if you wanted more it can output 4K 10bit 4:2:2 via HDMI (no need for $2000 Yagh unit, the YAGH is only for convert Mini HDMI to quad link HD-SDI) The micro 4/3 is great for lens compatibility you can use whole range of lens from Native M4/3 to PL professional Cinema lens and with new Metabones EF to M4/3 Speedbooster you can use canon EF on the GH4 with full control over iris and image stabilizer

I do agree. I don't know anything about this topic at all, and I am most definitely sure that those bundles are crap. Those were more for a reference of the types of extras I wanted. The 4k wasn't really a need but I would like to have the capability to film it in the future. And yes I do have a bit of money to blow because I have been saving up my overtime and have already done some necessary spending and now want some of this stuff to have the option in the future if necessary.
