NZXT S340 for air cooling?

Hunched

I've been planning my first build for a while now, and oddly what at first seemed like the easiest thing to decide on is now the hardest, the case.

The S340 looks great at it's price and has almost everything I need, my only problem is it looks like it was built for water cooling, no front intake fans, 2 exhaust fans.

Is there even any point in getting this if you're not going to water cool? I don't want to have a case that is going to be excessively hot because I'm using it improperly.

Other cases I'm looking at are the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 and the Corsair 450D.

These are a little more expensive, I was looking for the cheapest thing I could find with a side panel window, good airflow, and dust filters, probably an unreasonable goal.

There's like no reviews for the S340 and nothing regarding temps in the case yet, it's not in stock (in Canada at least) and I don't know when it will be or if it's worth waiting for.

Is it worth the wait or is there something better I can get?

There's two fan mounts for intake and the front panel has holes at the top and bottom for airflow.

Have you looked at the air 540? just curious. Also it does look to be a great case, Linus's review of it is done, just not released yet.

From what I can tell it should have should have good airflow, the gaps in front on top and bottom  are big enough to pull air, just be sure to get 2 intake fans in front either 120 or 140mm. I havent built in mine yet so dont know 100%

The Air 540 seems to be $127 CAD right now while the S340 is listed at $80 on NCIX.ca, where it's currently not in stock.

The Corsair 450D is $110 CAD right now, same with the Arc Midi R2, at least from the retailers I'm looking at.

I've also heard so many mixed things about Corsair and their quality as of late, apparently they used to be a lot better a few years ago.

But I don't know how true that is, and their cases are appealing to me at the least, along with Fractal Design, Phanteks, NZXT.

The case comes with 2 fans, located at the top and rear. I could buy some more fans, or if I wanted to, I could also move one to the front to be intake, I think.

I just don't know whether it's worth the wait or not. I'm pretty eager to order my PC, I definitely want it built by the end of this month.

The waiting is painful.

Yes the air 540 is plastic, but it seems fine to me other than the typical, window hard to clean problem. Other than that. not having bottoms fans with filters (or even just having bottom fans at all) it's been awesome for me, it is a bit pricey considering those things.

Yup only those 2 fans come installed, I ripped those fans out and they are up on my random pc parts shelf..I ordered 3 Noctua Redux NF-P14s 2 for the X61 I am going to get and 1 for top exhaust, and a NF-S12B for the rear exhaust. NCIXus has them on sale well todays last day for 11.99$ for the p14s and 9.99$ for the S12b...couldnt resist..

If nobody has any other suggestions for a case under $100 with a window and dust filters then I suppose I'll wait until the S340 is in stock, which hopefully won't take weeks...

Ugh.

Here I am with my PS4 and all these awesome games coming out that I can't play on my future PC yet...

Already resisting urge to play Shadow of Mordor on PS4.

I need a PC before more awesome games start coming out! Which always happens late October/early November, that's so close...
