New am3+ CPU

Go to solution Solved by Fulgrim,

Since you play BF4, one of the 8cores would be the most ideal choice.

FX8320

FX8350

FX8370

Any of those would be great. Just a shame you don't have an AMD graphics card, to use Mantle for BF4.

Hello guys.

So iam posting this because i need help. I just got a new am3+ mb w/ phenom II 925 on 3,6ghz and i just think, that my gtx670 is bottlecked by that cpu. So iam planning buying a new cpu. But iam stucked between two things. A six core am3 phenom or the new fx 8 cpus. Obviously i know, that fx is better. its just that the phenom is much cheaper and i dont know how much of a difference there is in performance between them and if its even worth it.

I use my pc mainly for gaming (BF4, dead rising etc.) so i just need a good cpu for the money.

Thank you for help!!!

well iam actually quite tight on budget atm. but really if i would buy that 8370 cpu how much of a performance difference should i expect? if any. (in games) In bf4 i get about 40-50fps on ultra 1920x1080. thx

also is it worth buying AMD FX-6350 Because its far cheaper than the other fx.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

What motherboard do you have? The FX series (mostly the 8 cores) need good VRM cooling to keep the CPU from throttling, as well as a decent amount of power phases

i5 4670k - Z87X-UD3H - EVGA GTX 670 Sig 2 - Samsung 840 Evo 250GB - 8GB Avexir Core White 1600Mhz - Corsair 750D w/ RGB LED Mod & Remote Control - 2x SP120 - 3x Enermax Cluster - 2TB Seagate SSHD - Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 - SuperFlower Leadex Gold 750W

yes, compared to your phenom the FX-6350 is 31% better in single threaded applications and 51% better in multi-threaded applications, according to CPU-world. It schould be the perfect match for your GPU.

Ah excellent, I believe that's a decent board with it's VRM cooling so you should be fine :)
