fps problem 280x

I play on 1080p 1 monitor.

I have 280x gigabyte edition and I have fps drops on Lol and payday 2 from high fps 80-100+ and then to 6-20fps.

I have fx 6300 processor.

I know LoL is bad optimised for multicore processor but not brother has same processor and 270x and says that he has no problem with it, he used to have fps drops like this but not anymore. He said that he uninstalled his graphic card driver then re install them.

I have done that and checked that I have the newest drivers.

Processor is overclocked to 4,3 ghz.

Any know how to fix this?

when testing for problems remove all overclocks.

might be you processor being unstable.

run it stock and come back with results

Can't I test it in some other way?

Prime 95 works fine, but I can try that some more I have only done it about 5 min per session.

My temp is below 60 on cpu and below 80 on gpu.

I have cm 212 evo.

I'll be sure to try it though but yeah I would rather not :P

remove the overclock, check the temps on both CPU,GPU (on full load), check the CPU-GPU usages whan the FPS drops. Do you have a stock cooler on the CPU?

But yes I can do more specific tests like while running (specific) games.

try. try.

I don't play much since I don't have much time with school and stuff but when I have time I will save and then do default settings.

I don't see how it should matter though.

When I think of it I only remember this happening to these 2 games. To other games I think it's fine, even though I haven't tried out many of them.

when testing for errors you must remove as many breaking points as possible.

On a unrelated note 3 of my steam games stuck in update queue required but never updates and steam self update doesn't work. It goes to maximum 0,61 mb or something.

those games are cpu intensive games and use only 1 CPU core for processing, the only way to really improve performance is to go with a cpu that has faster cores, intel pentium G3258 overclocked for example will deliver ''as good as it gets'' performance in those titles. So would a core i3 or core i5 haswell CPU.

i understand, some games will suffer from poor single-threaded performances, mostly online MMO's and RTS and some indie games...

the FX-6300 as somewhat good multi-threaded performance though so you are less likely to encounter this problem when running modern games such a battlefield 4, Far cry or crysis for example.

I usually don't play those though.

I play some steam games and try to focus on LoL but that doesn't work out very good. I lost the spark or something. My next computer might be i5 with nvidia though. The gtx 900 series look tempting.

you need to check if while playing your CPU or GPU usage drops.

I need to tab out to have those kinds of monitor thingies open. Is there a program/app that can monitor it in charts or something similar to afterburner but for cpu?

I just come to think of Kombustor I guess I can use that.

afterburner will show you all you want to see including CPU core loads and RAM usage, use the rivatuner app (included) to show on screen (in OSD: on screen display)

Monitor mostly your GPU load, it should be 95% and up when vsync is off.

I tried that and it didn't help.

I managed to get it working though. I looked at "programs that might interfere with Steam" and found avg (my anti virus software).

I turned it off then everything worked perfectly. With steam.

There is not default button in bios so I turned everything I saw to auto and put on cool and quiet.

I played 1 aram match (LoL's most demanding map) and I didn't have a single fps drop.

Which is weird because I did prime 95 for 30 min and I don't think I had any problems.

I have 212 evo and oc'd it to 4.3 ghz that's not much.
