do i need to update bios my self?

Go to solution Solved by Kamina,

The manufacturer usually flashes it with the latest bios of that month. If you're reusing a motherboard you will need to flash it yourself, just follow the instructruction and flash it while everything is at its default settings.

thinking of putting the g3258 into a z87 mobo, since g3258 is a haswell refresh do i need to update the bios my self or can i ask newegg to get a mobo with updated bios?

You're better off contacting newegg directly. If you're buying the motherboard directly from them, I know some retailers will give you the option of having them flash the bios for you, which if they offer it, just pay the $15 and have the retailer do the bios flash
