Is something wrong? ADATA SX900 Benchmark

iruixos
Go to solution Solved by s3ns3,

you should check the specifications. write speeds on your ssd with incompressible data is 180MB/s . read speed is 470MB/S

so your write speed is okay. read speed is a little low

Hi all,

I noticed a slight delay in the amount of time it takes for my OS to boot over the past few months. I finally decided to install CrystalDiskMark (and nearly avoided installing it as they tried getting me to instal MacAfee... oh the horror).

Anyways, I run the test, and.... this is what I get.

LEFT: ADATA XPG SX900 128GB SSD <-- This is the SSD I have my OS installed

RIGHT: Crucial MX100 512GB SSD <-- Just another benchmark for comparison, I guess.

Am I missing something here? They advertise the ADATA SSD as having 550MB/s Reads and 530MB/s Writes. I know you'd not likely get the full amount, but this is nearly half of advertised speeds...

Is my processor a bottleneck here? I'm not too sure what to make of this as I don't do disk benchmarking all that often (as you can probably tell).

Nope, IDE

Change it to AHCI, that should fix your problem.

Thanks. I'm not very technically inclined when it comes to benchmarking drives :P

I've had this particular drive since Q4 2012 but other than that slight issue it's been working quite well.

Its just sandforce's way of fooling consumers.

550/500 only apply to compressible data, while real world speeds are much lower (depends on nand used, it can get as low as 200MB/s for read and sub 100MB/S for writes).
