CrossFire Radeon HD 7950s Help

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

Alright, thanks, will probably go with the G3258 for the great value. Would something like a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO be a good enough cooler for it? If not, can you provide some examples of good AIO water coolers or air coolers that would provide decent enough cooling to get an OC good enough not to bottleneck the GPU?

Thanks for y'all's help

Yep, Hyper 212 EVO is adequate to get quite a decent overclock out of the G3258, since it doesn't produce a lot of heat.

I recently received two Sapphire Radeon HD 7950s from my uncle who upgraded his GPU. I want to use them to build my mother a computer for low-end gaming, namely WoW. I am not sure of what CPU I should use in this build to ensure that there is no bottleneck in the CPU without going overboard price-wise. Any help choosing other parts of the build (cpu cooler, psu) would also be appreciated.

Where are you located?

I'd suggest an overclocked G3258 since WoW won't use many cores, if not just the one

You know, those 7950's in crossfire would be pretty darn powerful and a waste for low end gaming. perhaps you can sell one and use the money for a good CPU?

For good performance in WoW you need an Intel CPU as WoW favors high IPC. Any of intels modern i5's would be fine though getting a K chip and overclocking would show even better results in large raids. Or if you're on a tight budget get a G3258 and a Z97 board and overclock it.

If you are doing low end gaming i would sell one and get an i5.

If you cant sell one i would say an i3. If you want something cheaper get the G3258

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

In that case, I may keep the other to put in a later PC or pass on to another family member. Would the G3258 have enough power, or would the upgrade to an i3 or i5 be worth it? If so, specifically which CPU(s) in the line would be good for different price points? There's no set budget right now really, other than as low as possible.

i3 is pointless really. It's either G3258 or i5, and i5 won't really provide any improvement in single threaded WoW

No problem. Tbh for WoW I would just use one of the 7950s, and sell the other. A 7950 is a 280 which is still plenty for even flagship titles today.
