Broadwell iGPU Documentation Found, Questions Raised About Integrity of GPUBoss And/OR Intel

The site only lets you download the PDF, so just in case I will also provide the Google search link.

https://www.google.com/search?q=intel+broadwell+graphics+flops&oq=intel+broadwell+graphics+flops&aqs=chrome..69i57.5870j0j9&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=0&ie=UTF-8#safe=off&q=intel+hd+5300+flops

We've seen some of the pictures in this PDF, but not the explicit figures of how Broadwell's iGPU is set up. Intel seems to have packed a lot more computing horsepower into this than many originally supposed. According to page 16 of the document, assuming 800 MHz peak speed (we all know Intel's iGPUs overclock rather well), we get:

24cores * 2 FPUs/Core * 4 SIMD/FPU * (MUL+ADD = 2)flop/SIMD = 384 floating point operations per cycle * 800*10^6 cycles per second = 307.2 GigaFlops peak single precision performance

Double precision is unlocked on all iGPUs.

For some reason integer performance is only as good as Double Precision performance...I'm highly confused as to why Intel doesn't have a MUL+ADD capability for ints in its GPU SIMDs.

Obviously for Core M the iGPU can never run at peak speed full time due to the tablets going fanless. How this works in gaming performance we can only guess at. It should be less effective than Iris Pro 5200, but of course we have yet to see how well Intel delivers on future drivers.

At an event long previous to IDF, Intel was claiming 2 Teraflops of performance on Broadwell's top SKUs at 1 GHz. This clearly disproves GPUBoss' claim that Iris Pro 6200 will only feature 48 EUs since the math makes it plainly impossible.

96cores * 2 FPU/Core *4 SIMD/FPU *2 flop/SIMD = 1536 flop/cycle * 1*10^9 = 1.536 teraflops. This implies one of a few things:

1) the iGPU cores going into Iris Pro 6200 will not be the same architecture as those in the lower SKUs

2) There will be as many as 120 cores

3) Intel fudged its figures by a whopping 33%.

So, what do we think?

EDIT: assume 120Gigaflops for the Quad Core CPUs themselves as well given the I7 4790k at 4-4.4GHz has a 119 Gigaflops real performance rating.

Integrity?

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

Integrity?

Intel doesn't exactly have a history of lying (apart from the Cinebench and Intel Compiler scandal checking CPUID strings).

Title may be a little sensationalist

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

If I was tired I would do a lazy ass title :P'

I don't get what being tired has to do with a sensationlist title, I'm tired too :P

If I wasn't mentally exhausted I would have put thought into it and made something more professional. But, back to the main topic, which of the three seems most likely?

GPUBoss seems shady. So I'll go with that. I've also been told a couple times not to use them because of said shadiness.

GPUBoss has always been quite unreliable in many cases, seeing how sometimes they always think bigger numbers equals higher performance.

Integrity of GPUboss? Dude, that is non existent.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

It's not that bad! Someone in this mix has lied. If it's Intel I'm gonna be pissed. GPUBoss, well...they've had it coming someone definitively proved they're full of shit.

GPUBoss is made by retards for retards anyway.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

They... They don't?

My prime example why GPUboss is idiotic: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-560-Ti-vs-GeForce-GTX-470

I lost more than 15 FPS in War Thunder switching out my stock reference 470 and switching in a 560 Ti (the extra cores EVGA version)

Yet GPUboss will tell you the 560 Ti is "better" when it's not.

Numbers on a piece of paper and real life performance more often than not do not correlate directly.

What are you blaming the GPUboss for? Their job is to compare those numbers. Do you expect them to take every single card and use them in real life to see which one is better?

"Their job"?

They created "their job", and nobody needed anyone to do "that job".

They are a waste of space, any idiot can look at a spec sheet and see what the bigger number is.

Or they can go to GPUboss where someone else already did the busy work for them. Really, what are you complaining about?
