Bad Sectors
Go to solution
Solved by WinNut,
Not really, if you have a bad sector it would probably pick it up. Use the Windows CHKDSK utility, it scans for bad sectors quite well. Open a command prompt and type in CHKDSK /? for more information about it.
Here's how to do it:
- Go to the start menu
- Search "cmd"
- Right click cmd.exe and click "Run as Administrator"
- Say Yes to the prompt
- Run CHKDSK /F /R (in case you want to know, /F tells it to fix errors and /R dictates to check for bad sectors)
- It will say that it can't lock current drive. THAT'S FINE
- It will ask if you want to run a check-disk on next boot. Type in "y" and hit OK.
- Reboot.
