wacom cintq...is it worth over a grand or 2?

i've seen the cintq over and over again, how it's the "industry standard" towards graphic artist who draw for a living *for those who can afford it* but if anything is it REALLY worth the price tag?

- does it have 10 bit colors?

-does it have true colors *if 10 bit's not the same thing*

-could you game with it even at the very least 60 hertz?

or am i fine with just a graphics tablet and prehasps even saving for a monitor that has true color for drawing purpouses...or what do you guys think?

i've do a little graphical drawing and such, but just unsure how to go onto the field as i'm *currently in college to be* hopefully a game designer, but also might experiment with video making, animation, and etc

If you're pro or semi pro, yes. The ability to work faster is a justification for many who can afford one. Those with enough dosh will grab a Cintiq and something else just as intense like a Lacie monitor. I'm sure you could game on the Cintiq, but that defeats the purpose of dropping 2k for a display meant for artistic projects. A nice middle ground is that 13" unit for 1k.

Cintiq 24HD adds 10-finger multi-touch, colour-calibrated, 97 percent Adobe RGB, 10-bit IPS panel.

Believe the smaller one is 8 bit.

"graphic artist who draw for a living *for those who can afford it* "

This is exactly it, for people entering or starting out its WAY overkill, and pointless unless you are earning off of your graphics

If you have the cash to burn its amazing kit, but for everyone else a cheaper option will do the job just fine

if anything i did thought about saving up for the 13 inch one PREHASP...i've currently a bamboo pen ctl-470 and thought about upgrading...though i've don't have much money to work with right now not to mention that i've a gaming rig atm...NOT sure if my only graphics card(the radeon 270x) can handle 10 bit colors, but at the same time i really wish i could see 10 bit color in action.

but if anything i wonder if just a bigger tablet is good enough...or the bigger brother "intuos pro" is worth the upgrade for the graphics artist standpoint

I'd start off with one of the Intuos pads. They lack the bright and colorful screen of a Cintiq, but they're still a very good investment in the world of digital art. I personally use one and I find no need to upgrade as it still works perfectly for me after two years of rigorous drawing :D. You can feel free to kill a fly with a sledgehammer and go for that cintiq, but if you do light graphic design, it'd be much better just to go for Intuos or Intuos pro.

Eccentricity is the new sane!!!

from what i've herd the bamboo brand became the intuos brand, but if anything i don't know the difference between the two on a graphical standpoint, and if i'd benefit from a bigger pad to work with

I personally have a bamboo and a intuos. I've had the pleasure of trying a cintiq at a friends place one time and I'll say if your good at drawing its a valuable tool. My skills don't justify a cintiq so I'm just gonna stick with my trusty intuos.

I have an Intuos 4, large. I know that desire to want the legendary Cintiq, but that price tag can build a beast of a rig at the same time. :P
