What if I'm Using Gtx 970 does it worth to have 120hz or 144hz Monitor?

No cause IMO the GTX 970/980 is perfect for 60hz as it can actually use all of what the monitor can offer.

A higher tier monitor at 60 is better than a bad one with inaccuracies/shifting everywhere at 120. In the end it's up to you. I've used TN panels before and a higher refresh rate is nowhere near justification to put up with the rest of its flaws for me personally. Last time I gave a TN a chance, it was returned the following day because I couldn't stand it.

And let's not forget about the possibly awesome G-Sync.

I would spend on a G-Sync monitor or, even better, wait for 1440p 120/144Hz G-Sync monitors next year when they'll be more common and definitely cheaper.

1080p of course

a single GTX 970 will push 120FPS in some games at 1080p, but most of the time it won't so i'd say no, not worth it.

What he said and even still a 970/980 will not push 120fps in any graphically intensive modern games heck even 60fps is hit and miss.

And for me IPS is just so horrible to game on I can't stand it, I drop my settings in game to hit 120 than put up with 60. Everything just feels so fluid at higher refresh rates I guess its a matter of perception and not something accurately measurable in terms of a USER experience where as IPS is measurable and for most people the clear winner hell I'd use one as my entertainment/productivity monitor all day

better off to go with a better quality 27'' 1080P 60hz or if you have more budget maybe look into a 1440P but if you want to game on high settings at 60FPS on it you'll need SLI GTX 970

Basically OP the few games you "need" that high refresh rate on are esport related games and even then most modern games no longer work the way you used to get the benefits out of a high refresh rate. Most other games its personal preference do you want high refresh rates and low response times and a smoother experience or do you want a colour accurate environment which will be a benefit when watching movies or being productive.

As someone who has a 144hz monitor I would suggest not getting one unless you need one, not that you believe you want one but that you need one if not IPS all the way don't let the marketing get to you.

I don't see how people can stand TN I mean the black aren't even black they are shades of grey and you can't see shit in darker settings and the details are all washed out LOL. That's aside from all the other glaring faults inherent to TN panels. TN = just another word for ... "Crappy gaming monitor".

IMO, just because the video card cannot output an FPS equal to the refresh rate of the monitor, it looks more fluid/smooth. Again, my eyes can notice a difference, it's how I see it - literally.

And I talked about waiting for better & cheaper monitors with G-Sync next year instead of getting one right now...

Also, I don't think you need SLI to play at 60 FPS on 1440p with high settings...

This has been debunked so many times over. Even Linus in one of his videos made a comment that there is really no point in a 120Hz monitor if you can't even drive it LOL. Yes you do need SLI/CFX to play games @ 120fps min 1440P and even then there are some games that wont maintain that min frame rate.

Do I care to see blacks when I'm trying to see someone stand out in the dark ? No. I don't care for colour accuracy. As I said before I wouldn't watch a movie on it.

The benefits of high refresh rates are way more important in games like quake even back then 60 was considered shit and it was 75 or 120. It isn't an opinion that 120hz is smoother than 60hz its fact. The opinion is if the benefits out way the negatives of a crappy tn panel. I can assure you in specific uses it does. If you are buying a gaming monitor for anything outside high level competitive play such as quake / cs or arguably even SC you are doing it wrong. The downside to it is once you switch back to 60 you start to notice how slow everything feels if you are sensitive to it. As I said before I don't recommend buying one over an IPS panel unless you play some real high level esports and I prefer IPS all day for any other task its just better hands down.

Just because you believe/agree that it makes no sense to have a higher refresh rate than the maximum FPS your GPU can output, it doesn't mean it makes no sense to others. It's personal preference, it's subjective, it's not exact sciente, it's not a fact.

So, if I could, I would have a higher refresh rate monitor even if not being able to output so many frames per second just because I'm able to tell the difference between them monitors.

I was talking about being able to play at 1440p with reasonable FPS, not 120/144 FPS.

And I sustain what I said: waiting for better monitors with more features and cheaper next year is a good idea as new panels (IPS if I'm not wrong) are being produced (read somewhere about these new panels).

I don't think you understand what I am saying. If you want to game with erratic frame rates then by all means a 120hz panel will work for you. Just saying that a 980 wont drive the panel properly because it can't display 120fps minimum.
