Linus Finished Filming the Source 340 Review... Finally..

miyabwah

Huzzah, it's about time. NZXT really should have thought about sending one over earlier.

All it's missing is a dual rad option on top. :(

Bye LTT. That was an interesting journey on this board. At least here you see how not to do it. I'll go shaking my head about this place.

Prepare to be disappointed. I'm still gonna buy this case for my next build (unless NXZT launches something else by Jan), but it has some flaws that I didn't expect from NZXT.

  • The PSU has the crappiest kind of dust filter,
  • Top vent has no filter,
  • There's a big gap next to the PCI brackets,
  • HDD's have to be screwed *insert pun here
  • HDD cage has no cooling,
  • No reset button, for some odd reason.

These are just a few things I noticed from pics and the review from Joanne Tech Lover (not a great review, but at least we got to see some more of the case).

That being said, it dose look stunning, and for 70$ you can excuse some of the drawbacks.

1: I agree

2: not needed

3: agree, don't want stuff crawling in

4: Not that hard

5 not needed

I do own the case myself for starters

PCpartpicker posted a video a few days ago doing a build in it.

Yeah the PSU vent is crappy, but it works

exhaust vents dont need filters

The gap is their but really not a big deal to me

I been screwing in hardrives for 18 years, I am okay with that.

vents in psu shroud are there to help with any heat, I think it will work fine

Its been so long since I have actually used a reset button I dont see point. I still might mod a hidden one just because it would be easy

2: Dust will get in over night, especially if you leave that exhaust without a fan, which is what I intend to do.

5: I'm kinda worried abut putting 2 old HDDs there. I'l probably buy a new one to sleep easy, but 2 old HDDs so close to each other, with no cooling..

I've read somewhere that HardwareCanucks is going to review this case sometime this week too. I can't wait for both Dmitri and Linus' review.

For #2 it might be because Joanne's was an engineering sample, I expect one of those plastic covers to block that gap and hide all the screws from the pci slots.

You know why I like this case? It's the case Batman would use.

Never really liked the Raven series from Silverstone, but I see your point.

Still think he's chose the NZXT.

Shame they did not fix the PSU filter. Its hardly a dust filter. Top filter is not necessary even if you wont put a fan there as long as you have positive air pressure.

My PC stays on anywhere from 4 to 10h out of 24. That leaves anywhere from 20 to 14h of 0 air pressure. Even for somebody who works from home and has it on all day there's still a 8h period when dust will get in.
Now, the lack of a top dust filter is not a deal breaker for me, but I can't not count it as a drawback.

This.

But yk, you can get a 5$ Silverstone 120/140mm dust filter

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. DEMCiflex makes some nice ones with magnetic frames. I'l just slap one of those on the inside, problem solved.

It's up and I dont think they bothered to cover the gap where you screw the gpus in. I'm worried that insects might dwell inside the case
