Razer Adaro In-Ear Review

Mr.Foxxy

Ok so this is my review and first impressions on the Razer Adaro series in-ear headphones. I have had them for almost a week and will be comparing them to my Sennheiser cx150s which I have used for over 6 months now.

UNBOXING

So I don't know about you guys and gals, but I love Razer's packaging almost as much as two lovers in the prime of their relationship. It is well presented and emits a simple and professional feeling whilst unboxing. The package gave me some trouble until I broke out a trusty knife to do my bidding. Inside I was presented with the standard Razer package items (for those who don't know, Razer usually includes a manual, stickers and a cult welcoming thingy) joined by 3 alternate earbud replacements: Large, Medium "Bi-flange" and small. Razer was also nice enough to include a sturdy and aesthetically pleasing carrying case with a breathable material pocket for accessories, however I just used this for the spare earbuds and a 3.5mm to 1/4 inch converter. Other than that the box is nothing impressive.

STRUCTURE/ COMFORT

The earphones are quite light, but bare a slight weight compared to Sennheiser's cx150s. The aluminium construction gives the Adaro's quite an advantage over the cx150s as I've yet to scratch them when dropping them on my desk. Sporting a 1.3m (4.3ft) flat cable attached to a right angled, gold plated 3.5mm jack, the earphones are tangle free and remain intact no matter how many times I tug and tangle them. I constantly find myself praising them every time I look at a normal shaped cable. Wearing them for more than an hour is easy if I don't try to deafen myself so they again get my appraisal. They don't seem to want to come out while jogging or even running, but be aware of standing up and walking away because in that case they will fall out. My only real complaint about the comfort is that they need a little help getting right into my ear, but once they're in... They're in. To sum up the structure I'd definitely give a 9/10, especially because of the low profile 3.5mm jack head that doesn't stand out of my phone like a matchstick.

SOUND

I listen to Hard rock, Metal (most sub-genres) and the occasional Bluesy tune. For this test I have stepped out of my comfort zone to test the bass and the highs in a "Techno" song.

First of all my impression on the Bass, Mids and Highs. The Bass is quite good although I wasn't expecting anything less after the Razer Hammerheads. A deep but clean bass is followed by the surprisingly clear mids. I didn't find myself straining to find them in the mix and this gave the tone a fuller feel. Highs were somewhat average at midway volume, but once I crank the beats they are almost better than my cx150's. Within different songs comes a different mix of the lows, mids and highs, the Adaro in-ears took the challenge and provided an above standard listening experience that in most cases allowed me to achieve euphoria.

They feel more catered towards a basshead crowd although if you're like me and feel the metal deep within your heart, then unless you listen to MP3s that were beaten with baseball bats, you will find yourself rocking out and thrashing all around like a maniac while listening to the Razer Adaro in-ear headphones.

OVERALL IMPRESSION

I feel as though these earphones were made for all sorts of different crowds and constantly find myself trying to figure out what sounds the best on them. I don't think they are the best of the best in terms of In-ear headphones, especially in this price range ($69.99AUD) and I'm sure there are better quality products with the same sound, however they are just conveniently mobile and deliver an accurate sound and just let me experience the music without all the fuss of EQ'ing the music every 3 seconds. To be Honest I'd take them over most earphones in this price range with the exception of a few (e.g. my Sennheiser CX150s) and for the average Joe who isn't looking for earphones that were engineered by the world's top earphone specialist, wants good sound and durable, long-lasting earphones. I would recommend these earphones.

Thanks for reading and I hope this is somewhat informative. This is my first post in the member reviews section so go easy on me hahah.

Did you try other genres besides what you've stated?

I'm going to do a brief rate/ description for as many genres as I can to save time.

Rap- 7-8/10 The voice and backup vocals mostly get through, not overshadowed by bass (Test: Cinderella man - Eminem)

Jazz- 10/10 I could hear all the instruments clearly and found it quite pleasant (Test: first 3 minutes of

)

R&B Same as Rap

Reggae 6/10 The vocals are clear but other aspects of the songs are a tad bit quiet compared to vocals.

Techno (HardStyle) I couldn't bring myself to listen to dubstep, but with Hardstyle the bass seems to perform well and a good amount of snare and synth drums

Classical 10/10 Piano is superb (for me) and I feel relaxed whilst listening to

And @vern021 If you'd like me to listen to a specific song/artist/genre please do ask.

Do NOT drop your headphones onto any hard surface. It could damage them internally, permanently.

Tea, Metal, and poorly written code.

Oh no not like DROP, but more like a... How do I describe it.... I would never do it on purpose, I sort of dangle the earbuds over the surface and set them down. When I do that with other earphones they sometimes scratch.

As I said above I was trying to touch base with as many genres as I could as quickly as I could, but you do have a point. I'd like to have them a bit longer and try them with different genres, mostly ones outside my comfort zone.

But anyone else feel free to suggest a genre/artist or specific song as I'd be happy to give it a in depth listen!  :)
