Good build or naw

Rafa116

I have a 660ish$ price range for a gaming pc and i would like to know if my pc is good enough for some of the newer games

I do not plan on running ALL games at max or high settings probably medium with non or just a tad bit of msaa

also if you guys could give your input on if i would be able to run some of the unreleased games like farcry 4 or assasins creed unity

I think the 770 is $20 more. I'd probably go for a 280x though. They're better than a 760 and about the same price if money is really that tight.

You can probably ditch the thermal paste and unless you have a lot of media you don't need the optical drive.

wlll i need the optical drive and the 280x has issues with artifacting ( not subtle ones either) and a 770 is most certainly not 20$ more

R9 285?

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Ok, so you're right. It's $30 more. Still not a lot of money for the increase in performance. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-n7702gd5oc

Oh, look. $40 more than the 760 for an MSI one. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-n770tf2gd5oc

Have you ever used a 280x or just basing that off a few peoples issues? I've used a 280x, and it was fine.

If a graphics card is artificating then it needs to be rma'd. They don't just artifact for no reason,  they're broken if they do.

i suppose i just based it off of the reviews on newegg i may think about it, but i would like to stick with nvidia for now as games will be well optimized on it but thank you for the info i will be finding a way to fit the 770 into my budget

Yeah, if you buy used card, that was used for Bitcoin mining, then you probably in 1 out of 10 could get damaged card with artifacts. In every other respect it is old fairytales. In local shops some of seller-men still tried convince me, that AMD makes very bad graphics cards and GTX 560Ti is great for gaming. Oh well, some people just cant accept other opinion.

They're not all well optimized for Nvidia...I'd say it's split pretty 50/50 between AMD and Nvidia.

i changed the mobo since you picked one with 2 ram slots and for the same price you can have 4

also changed GPU for more horsepower.

and a semi modular PSU with 600 watt of power and that all for a bit more ;)

Its decent also if you can go a tad bit higher I highly recommend the GTX 780 which has been discounted heavily due to 900 series launch, over double the performance of the 760 at only 90$ more! Also for the future remember to post in the Build Planning section when looking for advice - http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/18-new-builds-and-planning/

You can get the Asus DirectCU II 780 for 320$ with 5% discount code, plus 20$ rebate which makes it 300$! This is an absolute steal I would for this If I were you :)
