Decent Priced Air or Water Cooler For the G3250

jon99123

I'm Just bought the Pentium G3258 and need help finding a cooler at a decent price. I don't think that you would need something really big to do overclocking, but I have no experience in what are good brands. I am going to use it to do a decent overclock for some gaming. I'm looking to spend 25-50 bucks 60 max.

The G3250 has a locked multiplier, so you can't overclock on it.

I'm sure the OP meant the 3258.

@OP you really don't need a fancy cooler with that chip, at the most get a 212 evo but unless you live in the desert it's not necessary for that thing.

Just saying that the 3250 has a locked multiplier, so you can't overclock it. Their might be a chance that the OP bought the wrong cpu.

Just use the stock cooler... You don't need a 212 evo for the G3258. Man people and their misconceptions of the stock cooler.

And if the OP didn't? The 3250 exists and people have bought it before. It can be mistaken as a cheaper 3258.

*sigh* People have asked about locked processors like a 4790 before.

But what case are you going to use it in?

The most common result of insufficient wattage is a paperweight that looks like a PC

I'd probably just grab a 212 evo or silverstone ar01 for it. It doesn't require a beefy cooler, just something that's more efficient at removing the heat than the stock cooler. If you're doing a smaller overclock, say less than 4.2Ghz, then you probably don't need an aftermarket cooler as long as you don't mind a relatively warm chip.

With the stock cooler mine sits at 4.4GHz and at full load it ranged between 78-82 degrees if I remember correctly. This is in a larger silverstone HTPC case with terrible case cooling as well.
