I Left my Original Xbox Outside and Now I'm Sad

GoldSrc

So today I found my original xbox which I had in a box... outside... in the rain.

I forgot that I left it outside.

So when I took it out of the box it was dripping water, and I quickly took it apart and found this.

The fan was ok-ish, the hard drive had some water over it, the motherboard was kind of ok-ish.

Continuing with the damage, the back of the front pcb with the power and eject buttons had some rust and water but it was ok.

There's no psu picture because it doesn't have the original one, I use a normal generic ATX psu to power up the xbox.

I will try to clean it up and after a few days see if it still works.

If you let it dry out completely for a couple weeks it should still work just fine. No damage occurs until you supply electricity to the components while they are wet, if they are 100% dry even after being soaked for days it should still be fine.

Hmmm. #PS2MasterRace

But I don't take mine, put it in a box, and then leave it outside.

It never leaves the TV stand.

I remember playing Halo CE on those. It was awesome.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

leave it out in the rain some more and then burn it to get the water out

lol, I would do that but that's the first xbox that I was able to put an 80GB hard drive without burning something.

Take it all apart and leave it to dry in a well ventilated (dry) area for a few weeks, I'd say a month, then try it.

Also try getting all the large collections of water to drip off as they might not just evaporate.

Specs are on my profile page

Hey, I'm going to do whatever it takes to save it.

Yeah, I'll wait a few more weeks to put it back together.

OMG I know what went wrong here OP.  You thought you were leaving the Xbox One in the backyard to watch it ruin but instead left the awesome original Xbox out there.  Sorry you made such a terrible mistake.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

I was moving stuff one day all day, and I forgot that I left some stuff outside, along the xbox I left outside there were a bunch of random wires, dead hard drives and some old tv pcb's

I thought that I had the important stuff safe and then I wanted to punch myself.

Yup, big mistake but the motherboard is ok the psu isn't, I will have to replace some capacitors and a probably some resistors or get another psu and bring the xbox back to life.

But I will bring it back to life in the next week.

A week?, it spent more than 2-3 months outside.

Turn it into a PC

I may put it back in some other case.
