What is the best free video editing program that can import MP4's?

Cause i am wanting to do youtube videos but my only camera(the one on my GS3) outputs in mp4,i tried a program called lightworks,but it would not work with mp4,i tried to then convert it to AVI using Avidemux and it still would not work,now windows movie maker will allow me o import avi,but i already know the quality will be lowered by converting it,and then it will get worse if i export it from movie maker.

 

So i am worried that by the time it gets to youtube and compressed by them it will look like crap.

 

So i need a free program that can import mp4,cause i have no extra money to spend.

Are you new? TL;DR: it is a pro level editing program it 2 verisons a paid verison and a free,but the free is missing a lot of stuff,like the codecs to use MP4 or AVI.
