So howcome loads of people say "Get Corsair they're made by seasonic" but hardly anyone gets Seasonic

MPX309

Now, I'm not talking about the nerds / enthusiasts blah blah, I know there's other OEMs, CWT etc and what not but you know who I mean by this. . . but it's just an observation I see that people recommend Corsair off the back of Seasonic but say new builders for example, who are recommended to use Corsair by people who use the Seasonic term as a sort of reference for their reliability, why not just get Seasonic instead? . . . am I making any sense?

Corsair is often cheaper, and their units are more aesthetically pleasing.

Aesthetics of rigs matter

Seasonic has a bit less market saturation with their own units.

Their rebrands are just plain more accessible than the actual units themselves.

The number of rebranded SS units greatly dwarfs their own units in both sku and volume.

Rebrands can also be marketed cheaper because they were sold in bulk and SS doesn't have to deal with any type of support or distribution.

A company with a greater distribution and market exposure (i.e. everyone that sells a SS rebrand) can push it off cheaper even after taking a cut.

To be clear here, only the internals are the same of a rebrand PSU (fan excluded)

or high wattage models not available wildly

also warranties differ and prices too

Well, actually most Corsair PSUs are made by CWT, and only a few are SeaSonic. However I have heard that the screw holes on SeaSonics are not in the right position. This actually has happened to me.

Appearance, cables, cost. Those are the reasons. I feel like I'm in the opposite boat since I wish Superflower sold their units regularly in the US instead of having to do research as to which PSU is using them as an OEM.

Corsair uses Seasonic for it's PSU? That's news to me. Last time I checked they get them from a bunch of different OEM with most coming from CWT.

The Corsair AX series is the most well known Seasonic model. They also made some of the other models such as the TX and HX.

In Germany the Seasonic ones are cheaper than the Corsair, so I will be getting a Seasonic one. 850w corsair is around 160€, Seasonic around 130€.

You will probably never get that answered, since if you asked that question to Corsair or Seasonic they would probably send you to each other.

it's a 90% no, but you should still be able to find information on the connector somewhere.

The outputs on the PSUs are not standardized and up to the rebrander, so probably no.

I wouldn't risk it, I would only buy those if I had a Corsair PSU. They are damn expensive. Go to FrozenCPU and check out the extensions.

Extensions create unnecessary cable clutter. The corsair cable set was just a though i was throwing around months ago. It's way to expensive like you said. For thet money i could sleeve it myself. :P

My cynical response is that people recommend Corsair and search for reasons to recommend them, and end up with that Seasonic is a good OEM. They show little understanding of what makes Seasonic a good OEM, just that they are, and they make some Corsair PSUs, so buy Corsair PSUs.

Also the three reasons I saw given in this thread so far. Cheaper, aesthetics, and availability. Add to that the quieter fans that Corsair has been adding, as well as software.

Corsair has been moving away from Seasonic recently. They had some older HX, VX and TX units using Seasonic, as well as the AX_60 Series. Recently they've been using CWT, as well as Chicony and Great Wall for their lower to mid range units, and CWT and Flextronics replacing Seasonic for their high end units.
