Best headset for Gaming and general use

asim1999

Would like it to be comfortable, have solid sound and preferably have 7.1 surround and must be good value.

Also, what is the difference between virtual 7.1 and true 7.1 surround headsets and is it worth the price difference?

if so, what is the cheapest "true 7.1 surround" headset in the UK at the moment?

Thanks

first of there is no such thing as true 7.1 surround in headphones.. i mean how the f would they place all those speakers in the cups and do they only place HALF the sub in each? anyhow, surround is in ALL headphones

2 all headsets suck mostly.

3 Budget please, or im just gonna recommend Sennheiser HD650 and a Blue Snowball for mic, and sound blaster X-Fi HD for amp and dac, switch for V moda Crossfade M-100 if you want closed back and a little better bass.

If only people would use the search button a little bit... In 10 days, I think this is like the 10th topic with the same question, only thing that changes is usually the price range.

I would rather 1 GOOD driver in each ear cup and virtual surround than 7 small drivers in each ear cup.

That being said I also wouldn't buy a headset.  I have used good headphones and can never go back.

7 drivers in each cup would be 14.2 not 7.1 :P

Don't fall into the "7.1 trap". The important thing to do is to buy headphones with good sound stage and/or imaging for the best surround experience. 5.1/7.1 headsets are just marketing gimmicks.

Either way my point still stands.

The Razer Tiamat 7.1 has 10 drivers so 5 per ear.  So let me rephrase.

I would rather 1 GOOD driver in each ear cup and virtual surround than 5 small drivers in each ear cup.

I know you weren't being serious though.
