Minecraft Server

Atomicnerd64

Hello I would like to know if anyone can give me a step by step detailed explanation of how to create a minecraft server that anyone in the world could access. I am technically inclined but have no knowledge when it comes to this.

I am a member of the PCMasterRace. I am terribly sad to announce that I own a PeasantStation 3 Super Slim. it's in a drawer away from my glorious PC.

Download craftbukkit.jar and launch it with a bat file:

Java -Xmx1024M -jar craftbukkit.jar  true
PAUSE

Port forward port 25565

Give your friends your external ip

Profit

There's tons of videos on youtube that explain everything.

The most complicated part is port forwarding, because every modem is different, and there probably isnt a tutorial for your specific modem.

Craftbukkit is no longer available because of copyright issues. He will need to use the standard vanilla server.jar from mojang.

Essentially, what Wano said, but if you want a web address, go to noip.com

create a host

put in your desired web address

put in your IP

click create host

Profit

You can checkout spigot, it's an alternative to bukkit

due to copyright issues they have made updating be done by a script (which is hard to figure out at first)

Linux "nerd".  If I helped you please like my post and maybe add me as a friend :)  ^_^!

on ubuntu from terminal:

On Windows

  • download minecraft server jar
  • save file
  • create minecraft directory
  • put jar file in directory
  • double click jar, should auto start with java
  • server application will now run

Both of these assume you have java already installed on the system. for ubuntu you can use the openjdk and it should be fine. if you prefer the "official" oracle java then PM me and i can send you steps for that too.
