Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor

Sack

Jeeze this is a big game it comes on 5 DVDs! My friend who works in a computer/gaming store sold it to me today, after I came home I realised I don't even have optical drive in my computer... so now I'm watching my laptop rip them to the HDD, and then I have to wait a bit more so I can get my sorry ass home, because my laptop sure as hell won't run this game.

This game better be worth it!

But it looks so good, and if I didn't buy it then I'd probably had to get it from a less legit source (arrh you salty seadog). I think it's more about me wanting this game to be good, just because I really want a good lotr game (return of the king was decent at the time) and I never got to try my hand at "the third age" or whatever it was called.

Have you seen the box for a possible code on it through which you can just activate your game on steam and save yourself the hassle?

steam version was 44GB i believe. im surprised they actually went through the effort of disks, most hard copies of games for pc just come with a disk that has a launcher to download the game, kinda pointless most of the time

How do Reavers clean their spears?

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.

My desktop is not at my uni accomodation, and my parents don't have any great internet to speak of, so it's actually faster this way.

I'm going home soon, and will be at home for an extended period now, so it just kind of fits in well. And at home there is not a single game store, and as mentioned our internet speed is nothing major, and the modem keeps crashing a couple of times a day.

I loved LOTR Online I mean the graphics and sound were amazing and the lore was correct enough imo though I am not a LOTR geek I had allot of fun in LOTR online.

I'll prpbably pick this up later on, when my new GPU gets here. I thankfully do have an optical drive, so I don't have to download the entire 44GB over my 2.25Mb connection haha

33,5 GB actually, atleast that's the size of the five ISOs I transferred yesterday.

Could you fire up MSI Afterburner and see how much VRAM is used by the game on High?

And after that download the Ultra pack and see if that works at all for you d:

I can try it tomorrow, but if you check out totalbiscut's video you'll hear him rant a little about it. I "only" have a 780 so I can't run it with the texture pack anyway, there are also a few other stuff that eats up a little VRAM here and there, if you just check the video he'll show you all the settings.

He doesn't say anything about it actually using 3GB for high, just that it doesn't make much sense :P (And yes ranting about how weird that 6GB pack is)

For this game to play it on Ultra texture pack you need 6 Gb vram .... this is stupid because high texture vs ultra texture difference is small for the cost of 6 Gb vram. Recomandate to put all on high settings and enjoy the game 60 FPS+ ;) Ultra settings difference is small from high settings. Have fun ;) I got the game and i play it on High no problem on may PC 1080p.

CPU : Intel i7 2600K OC@ 4.5 GHz ;

MOBASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 ;

RAM Corsair 8 GB DDR3 1866 MHz ;

GPU EVGA GTX 680 2Gb (GTX 770 Bios modded and instaled with voltage and fan speed unlock) OC@ 1228 MHz on GPU and 7012 MHz on Memory ;

No you don't. I can run Ultra textures (yes I downloaded them) at 1080p just fine on a 3GB 780. Every other setting is maxed, except motion blur as I hate that crap.

Yeah, I don't see how a game can't run ultra textures with my GTX 980.... It can't be true, clearly they have inflated the RAM requirements by 50% of what they actually are.

It seems like Ultra textures will just use whatever VRAM you have. People with 3GB cards report it using around 3GB, people with 4GB cards report it using about 4GB, and so on. When you push the rendering resolution you start seeing the frame buffer get stressed, but that's understandable when you can push up to 4k resolution. If I played with settings I bet I could downsample from that resolution and that would help get rid of the jaggies.

When Nvidia releases drivers optimized for SoM I bet performance will get even better.
