Cooler Master Hyper N520 Review

Cheetopocalypse

First off I would like to say that this is a review of a fairly older CPU cooler, and this is after a month of usage. Please bear with me as this is my first ever review and it might go to s**t. Anyways, onto the cooler.

Some (Half Decent) Glamor Shots:

Overview:

If you are looking for decent air cooling for a great price, look no further. This is one of the best budget air coolers you’re going to find.

This is a dual fan CPU cooler. The front fan is intake while the back fan is exhaust, so make sure your case has decent airflow, as this will make temps vary. This cooler is compatible with Intel socket LGA1366, LGA1155, LGA775, and LGA1150. It is also compatible with AMD socket AM1, FM2, FM2+, and AM3 (correct me if I am wrong).

The fans on the cooler are 92mm and are locked at a speed of 1800RPM. The noise level is at 19dBA since the fans lack speed control so you know you are getting good cooling 99.9999999% of the time. The .00000001% is when the fans might stop working. The cooler also comes with an adapter that allows you to hook up both fans to one fan header.

The heatsink is made of Aluminum and Copper. It has 8 copper heatpipes for very nice thermal transfer from the CPU to the heatsink. The heatsink Dimensions are 115 x 62.3 x 141mm. Note that you will have to see if it is compatible with your motherboard and case as this is a fairly big cooler.

The mounting system is a little meh. Cooler Master is using a very difficult, but sturdy mounting system. It doesn’t look like it will fall down anytime soon.

Temperatures:

This cooler is cooling an overclocked AMD FX6300 overclocked at 4.0GHz, at 1.212v. Mileage may vary.

Idle: 40c

Load (Prime95) (Overclocked): 63c

Load (Prime95) (Stock): 51c

Please do note that this is for an AMD FX6300. I cannot test any other CPU’s so your temps will vary depending on what you have.

Summary:

Pros:

  • 8 Copper heatpipes
  • Dual fans
  • Sturdy mounting system
  • Great airflow
  • 2 fan to 1 fan adapter
  • Price to performance

            Cons:

  • Mounting system difficult to install
  • Lacks PWM control
  • Constant 19DBA noise level

This is one of the best budget air cooling solutions you can get for the cheap price. The cons are highly outweighed by the pros, which is why this cooler is still very nice for dat price. All in all, great cooler, can recommend to a friend or family member.

Thanks for reading my first review! Hope this helps some people. kthxbai
