Crossfire Guidance

With wich card I can crossfire an MSI r9 270x HAWK, I mean, in the event that i cannot get another HAWK which will be the best option????

Any other 270X. I'm almost 100% that a 270 (non X) would also work.

Youd have to underclock the 270x to get it to work with the 270, or overclock the 270

it will not matter what brand it it as long as its a 270x it will be fine e.g. i'm running a Sapphire 7970 and a MSI R9 280x

Yes.

 

The thing about matching clock speeds...

I don't think it's mandatory requirement, but a suggested requirement.

 

I'm running two HD 7970's right now.

One is factory overclocked to 1050/1500, and the other one is the bare reference speed of 925/1375.

Looking at GPU-Z, both are running at their own individual speeds. The faster one doesn't clocked itself down to match the slower one, etc. I'm sure there is a performance hit, but that is not my point. My point is, they will run in Crossfire regardless of clock speeds.

 

When I got my brother's PC and new HD 7950, I threw it into my system to run in Crossfire "for testing purposes." I didn't experience any issues, even thought hey are clocked at different speeds. Again, in this scenario, the HD 7950 is factory overclocked.

that is correct, you dont have to match the clock speeds, but your setup will only run as fast as the slowest card so you might as well keep them at the same clock.

yea my 7970 and 280x has different speeds so i just OCed the both to the same speed
