Help me find a tablet!

dizmo

I have a friend who would like to buy her boyfriend (who is also my friend) a tablet for their anniversary.

I know a bit about tablets but I don't have the patience to really research them right now.

He's pretty tech savvy, however I don't think he'd really be playing many games on it, so I'm not sure if the Nvidia tablet would really be of benefit.

He also hates Nvidia with a passion. So. There's that.

Price, let's keep it low. His gf sends a lot of money back home, so she likely won't want to spend much.

I'd imagine he'd want a 10" screen, since 7" isn't really that much bigger than a phone.

He doesn't like Android, but I imagine would suck it up for a tablet. Windows doesn't really seem to offer much in the way of them.

So, in other words:

10"+

Android unless Windows has a viable option

Nice build

Front facing speakers a huge plus

Medium cost; think around $350

It also needs to be available in Canada.

Thanks lads!

And potentially lass's. But I won't get my hopes up.

Come to suggest the Nvidia tablet

LOL

I guess the current Nexus would be a good choice? (Am I thinking outdated?)

Otherwise just cover up the Nvidia logo heh

You should buy them the Nvidia tablet...

But for 10" I mean, a old Samsung Galaxy Tab 10"?

Yeah, that was a thought. It's in the upper range of the budget though.

The vanilla Android would be nice, however.

I don't think Samsung would be good for someone who hates on Android because it's laggy...can't give him fuel for his fire! ;)

I agree the Nvidia is sexy, just wish they had a larger size as well.

Nvidia Shiled. Its the best one you can get for the money.

It's quite small though. 8" isn't really something that I'd want to watch movies and such on.

Its not as bad as I thought I would be. I went from an Ipad to the SHIELD Tab. Being able to hold it with one hand is really nice, For watching youtube it gets the job done for me atleast

Sadly, too much of a wait. I think that comes out in a few months and their anniversary is much sooner.

well i just got myself the xperia z2 tablet and im pretty happy with it. i dont know about the price in canada though. its slim with a 10.1" screen and packs alot of hardware. front facing speakers do a good job and overall build quality makes it look and feel really classy. so maybe its worth consideration maybe not i can only provide experience i had and i only had the z2 so far so... theres that.

He really wants something over 10".

Those are super nice, but...I think a little too nice. That's well and above the budget she'd want to spend, and he'd be pissed if she spent that much.

It might end up being the Nexus 10.

Most likely yes.

I'll run that one and the smaller Nvidia tablet past her.

i have had an iPad 1, and iPad 2 and a Nexus 7 (2013) The iPad was way to clunky for me and the nexus was FANTASTIC for the money and I got mine for $200 USD (Staples was having a sale on all tablets, $150 off any tablet $250 and up.) If they don't mind the 7in screen. Nexus would be ideal since he doesn't like nvidia.
