go with a H97 board for better compatibility

this one should be fine

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-h97manniversary

and get rid of the i3 and go overclock the heck out of the Pentium G3258

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646g3258

and couple it with a Coolermaster X6 Elite

what cpu would you recommend

Pair your AMD GPU with an APU

Something like this maybe?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rmQbyc

You save $40 and the APU + GPU would be a good pair. Use the extra cash to buy your favorite game or something :P

Having discreet graphics is better(if you can squeeze it in)

@TdotRaptor this is what I've done in the build. Hope you like it. ;)

It's a quad core CPU. It can give you that extra kick for multitasking. You can also overclock with this thing if you're willing to add some money and buy a Cooler Master 212 EVO. What I mean by discreet graphics card(I might have used the wrong term) is having a dedicated graphics card is better than having an APU-GPU dual graphics setup. :)

I find the A10 APUs better with the Radeon GPU than the Athlon II because it can "crossfire" the GPU and APU together and a single 8GB stick is better than 2x 4GB sticks of ram (leaves more room for a second stick of ram. The main difference in price is the $20 on the case, everything else is about equal.

@TdotRaptor I still recommend my idea over vern's.

You do know that you can't even make the APU and GPU crossfire?

An APU and a GPU can sort-of Crossfire, it is called Hybrid Crossfire and if you google it a bit, you'll find it works.

The Hybrid CrossFireX is a technology allowing the IGP, or Integrated Graphics Processor, and the discrete GPU, or Graphics Processing Unit, to form a CrossFire setup to enhance the system capability to render 3D scenes

They can crossfire IF they're compatible

That only works with low end cards like the 240 and 250.

My apologies, I never looked too much into the technology as I've got closer to $1500 for my systems and stick with nvidia + intel. Just remembered hearing about it.

Yeah, it's entirely a waste of money and should be skipped over as a suggestion because you can pretty much always get better for the money.

That's for Vishera right? I think Trinity or even Richland can't crossfire with that.

I think any A series APU from AMD can hybrid CFX with a couple of their low end GPUs.
