Yes, but where are you buying from? Is it a pre-built? How much is it?

I may remember wrong but pretty sure 990 is for crossfire.

why not go to a 6300 with a 970 board and go to a 280x?

@Captain_Slow because my monitor supports 1280X1024 resolution (19 inch) for maximum.And i won't buy a new monitor so R9 280X is a overkill.

I have a similar rig.

AMD FX-8320
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 AMD 990
AMD MSI 6870
Cooler Master 212EVO
600W Power Supply

The FX-8320 is a beast. Mine is overclocked to 4.4ghz with temperatures 25C idle, 55C load. I haven't had any major issues with it. I will need to get a new gpu soon.

The 600 watt power supply is more than enough. I run 3 HDD, 1 SSD, LEDs, and multiple fans with no issues.

I play modern games high-ultra with 2xAA @1080p60

Hi there TrxBoy!

If you have the opportunity, you could make a preview of your build using the PCPartPicker. That way you'll be able to see the compatibility between the parts, the summed power supply, price options and shipping. Also, it would make it easier for all the members posting in this thread to come up with the best advices and suggestions. :)

It's great that @Gogan is so happy with the AMD FX-8320 CPU, it does sound really powerful. But in my opinion, for a mid-range gaming build, you may not need so many cores. Games usually take up to 4 CPU cores, so may be you'll be just fine with 4.

GPU and RAM seem good; also, keep in mind that it's always better to have your PSU a bit more than needed, for instance, make it 650W, just in case.

The WD drive you've selected is from the Blue series. It's good and will work but if you'd like, you could look into the Black series, they're maximum performance hard drives for gaming. I've put a link below if you'd like to check them out.

@Captain_Slow is right, this motherboard is crossfire-enabled, so if you don't want to crossfire, you could also look into that too.

I hope I've been of help!

Best of luck! :)

Its great. But if your gaming, then it would be better to get an fx-6300 and a 280x. The fx-6300 will overclock very easily, and you really don't need those extra cores.

As for 600watts, Go for a 700 watt to give you a little more headroom, especially if u go 6300+280x and are overclocking

Edit: did not see that you were gaming on a 1280x1024 monitor. I have to say: don't do it! any 1080p monitor will be much better. Think in the long term, a 280x and 1080p monitor will be so much better

But i see where your coming from about saving money. I bought my PC in Aus, oh the prices are disgusting!
