Need help with a cpu

Ok im helping my friend with upgrading his pc but now i ran into a problem and i don't know what to do.

Currently im am looking at the Intel Pentium G630 @ 2.70GHz.

But the motherboard that he have says the following

• One LGA 1155 socket

• Supports the following Intel processors:

– Core i7-2600 (3.4G 8M ,DDR3 1333), D2, 95W

– Core i5-2500 (3.3G 6M DDR3 1333), D2, 95W

– Core i5-2400 (3.1G 6M DD3 1333), D2, 95W

– Core i5-2300 (2.8G 6M DD3 1333), D2, 95W

– Core i3-2120 (3.30G 3M DDR3 1333), D2, 65W

– Core i3-2100 (3.10G 3M DDR3 1333), D2, 65W

Am i supposed to understand that as the motherboard that he have can only use those cpu´s?

or can it use the Intel Pentium G630 @ 2.70GHz.

yep, it will work, they are both socket 1155 and Sandy Bridge

Compatible with Windows 95

the support list from them will just contain variations of the machine featuring different specs. Intel's microcode on the lga1155 board will support basically any sandy cpu.

You will not be able to use the G3258, that cpu fits into the lga 1150 socket, while your motherboard only allows for processors that fit into the lga 1155 socket.

If you want to research this I recommend reading this article : http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/cpu-socket-types-explained-from-socket-5-to-bga-makeuseof-explains/

Its very simple, when you are shopping for a cpu just make sure that the specifications on that specific processor say that it is an lga 1155 chip

i would go for a second hand i5 off that list.
