Microsoft Enhance Student Plan for Office 365 - Now Free

GoodBytes

Microsoft is now offering for eligible students Office 365 subscription for free.

office-365-logo-01_story.jpg

And best of yet, unlike University edition, it is for 5 PCs and 5 Devices, and not 2 shared.

So that means, if you have a student in your family, you may be able to get Office 365 full, including the 1TB of OneDrive Storage, for free.

So you get:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access and Publisher
  • Installation on up to five PCs or Macs
  • Installation on up to five mobile devices (Android and iOS)
  • 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage
  • Office Online Access
If you are a Teacher, you also get Office 365 ProPlus, which will be available December 1, 2014, and no extra charge for students

It must be noted however, that is it currently in the U.S only. However, Microsoft is working in expanding the offer to more regions.

Update: If you are outside, contact your school (or Google search). If they are registered with Microsoft, they can give you instructions on how to get it for free.

How to check for eligibility and get it for free?

-> Be 13 years and older.

-> Click here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/office-in-education-FX104367920.aspx

-> Enter your e-mail address given to you by your institution

Simple.

hmm interesting, this might make me check out office now that it would be free for me. I currently use Apple's iWork set of apps on my Mac, iOS devices, and PC (in browser).

10 less dollars for me to pay per month. Loved using Office 365. OneNote is great when it comes to taking notes in class. The 1 TB of cloud storage was the main reason I used to pay, but will defenitely switch over to the free version. It uses your edu email to sign in, so if you had a microsoft account, you can't use that anymore, and I think everything is tied to you edu email.

This is nice, and I'm glad they made the process so easy.

Too bad I already switched over to Google Drive.

For now.

Yeah, I'll be keeping my eyes for it. Or just go and work for MS.  :D (not that it's easy to get in)

it's worth noting that if you don't know about this yet, it probably doesn't apply to you.

I've had 365 through my school for a while now.

Actually, some schools choose to not implement it as they don't want to handle the administration of this.

So now Microsoft does all the work.

Also guys, if you are not eligible on the site, ask you can ask your institution. It can be free or 10$, depending on the agreement.

For me, at university, the news was released hidden back in March, is a small expert in the university news paper. But it features instruction on how to get. This is what I am using. So ask, or dig a bit, or wait for Microsoft.

weird, because literally all they have to do is send an email that says "hey you have this, go here and press ok to use it"

I already have a free student account with microsoft 365 from my school, however I don't know if it is for 5 separate devices! Not sure how to check that either...apart from installing on as many devices as I can!

-Cheers!!!

-P.S. My initials are really P.B.J. Does that explain enough? :D

Then you should be. Browse the page, and should have a download link for Office. At least, that is how it is on my side.

I finally can stop having to use Office Online in order to view school work.

Every topic I post in dies.

I believe the catch is that you lose it immediately after graduation.

Yeah but then you will get a job so it probably won't be a problem to pay for it if you really need it.

Or you buy Office 365 University. 79$ for 4 years. Buy it before graduating, and get 4 years of a low price access to Office.

It's only for 2PC and devices shared thought (so, laptop and desktop, or desktop and tablet). But it's something.
