Crossfiring 2x MSI 1GB OC R7790

Rashy

I wanna save up to buy another 7790, personally its like my best choice but im also saving up for a new rig.

  1. Will Crossfiring the 7790 get better performance than just one <name your GPU here> GPU? Preferrably better than a 660
  2. Will my FX-6300 bottleneck it?
  3. Do i need to upgrade my PSU? Its Corsair VS 550W btw...
  4. Suggestions?

My GPU model is MSI R7790 1GB OC Edition. The rig im planning isnt final decision but if i can continue from SLI 7790's i would get a Corsair H100i and try to OC my CPU to the limits. kthxbye

what mobo do you have?

you could get a better experience if you would sell your gpu (let say £50), spare the 2nd GPU (£80?) and the CPU cooler (£80) and get a 760/770/280X/270x instead and a good but cheap air cooler.

I have the Xigmatek Dark Knight, it is £30, cools my sock 8320 to 39 c at prime 95 with 1 exhaust fan on the case

Its on my signature, but i have an MSI 970A-G43.

I dont know why but Hardware Monitor shows the temp for my system not only the CPU but Temp inside the rig. I looked at the BIOS its cooling about 35C last time i checked...

then you have an answer

970 chipset does not support crossfire. well, it does, but you get PCI-E 2.0 x4, and that will bottleneck you hard,so if you want to get CF, you must get a new Mobo, and there goes the budget

WOAH, you have the same amount of money I do!

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Well then, onto my new rig plans;

  1. CPU: i5-4670k
  2. MOBO: Asus B85 Pro Gamer
  3. GPU: 770
  4. PSU: Corsair CX600M

Any content that is missing is going to be reused... This isnt final decision but whoever is reading this thread pls do suggest some. Cpu and Mobo is a combo, cost about USD 20 Cheaper....

OOT: SHIT MY BOX THAT USED TO HOLD MY 7790 IS A FUCKING ANT NEST. So thats where the ants are coming from. Hope the Warranty doesnt require a box... i just dropped a dozen ants into my shin and its itching like hell, not to mention these are FIRE ants... Oh dear theyre in my pants now...... btw have i mentioned that i have no SSD?
