Brand For gtx 970 . Read details below.

Ahsankhaan

Hey guys which brand do you think is best  for gtx 970 in terms of performance at stock and quiestness . Msi gtx 970 gaming  4g  or  Gigabyte g1 gtx 970  or asus strix gtx 970 or Evga Acx gtx 970.I know Evga gtx 970  is the best  but i heard it is noisy. I had ordered r9 290 vapor-x before this but i stopped them when  i saw gtx 970 . I can still continue my r9 290 vapor-x order if r9 290 vapor-x is better in performance  ,i dont care about price difference , power efficiency , temps .Thanks in advance need your suggestion as soon as possible.

GTX 970 will be better than the R9 290, don't order an R9 290. For brand, I'd have to say Gigabyte's Windforce will be your best choice.

Gigabyte G1 GTX 970 seems to be by far the superior choice right now unless you have something to cancel out the noise of the EVGA ACX 2.0.

EVGA - EVGA has good quality and warranty but their new cooler has been reported to make a bloody horrible noise.

MSI - MSI has a good 970, with a new Twin Frozr design, it's a good one IMO.

Asus - Strix looks different but I think it's nice, although I don't like that it has that fan thing where it doesn't spin till a certain temp.

Gigabyte - From what I've seen this is by far the best overclocker, comes overclocked already, 3 fans, coming in at 31cm, has an LED light and keeps cool. Also it has a backplate.

I am telling it to everyone, and I am saying it here as well

Wait until Thursday or Friday please

AMD will make some announcement regarding graphics, and it might be desktop grade graphics card (but might be an APU too)

If it is right, then you will have more choice from AMD, that hopefully will compete in performance with Nvidia, and if everything goes as last year, in price

at best, you get better tech for smaller price

at worst, you waited with your order until friday and get GTX 970 next week

Gigabyte has the best 970 out there by some distance. Loads of reviewers are getting 1500mhz+ on the boost clock, and still it cools better than the other brands. EVGA have made a bit of a hash of their 970 and 980 cooler, MSI is fine, as is Asus.

Well, GTX 970 is largely out of stock, but I'd go with Gigabyte Windforce or Asus Strix. I don't trust EVGA's new cheaper looking ACX coolers...

evga kind of messed up the cooler since it doesn't fit on the card as it's supposed to do

No they didn't. It was designed exactly as it is. The GPU die is very small. They designed it so that the die is in direct contact with the two large 8mm heat pipes. The third smaller heat pipe that does not contact the die is there for added cooling overhead (more overclocking potential and gets it a few degrees cooler at stock clocks).

@Ahsankhaan - The GTX 970 consistently out performs the R9 290 in almost every game and even out performs the 290X in a lot of games as well. On average, it sits about neck and neck with the 290X and edges out the GTX 780.

I'm also looking to buy a GTX 970, but I'm waiting until AMD's announcement on Thursday to see if they surprise us with a 970/980 killer. But as for the GTX 970, the MSI Gaming 4G is currently at the top of my list out of all the 970s and here's why: Like the Asus Strix, the fans do not even start spinning until the GPU reaches 60 degrees and when they do start spinning, it's a very non-aggressive fan curve - so they don't go from 0 to 90%. You can basically play a ton of games maxed out at 60fps+ in complete silence due to the passive cooling. Compared to the Strix, the MSI Gaming 4G idles much cooler and also operates cooler under load. The cooler is way overkill and the card was designed for overclocking so you know you've got tons of potential. High tech legion was able to OC the MSI to 1500mhz without increasing voltage! Wat!  B) IMO it's the most quiet and badass of all the 970's available thus far. And well, just look at it... :D

The R9 290 is better at higher res in some games, but for 1080P/1440P, I suppose the GTX970 would be better. Anyway, why is this question being raised here? Why not the 'Graphics cards' section?

I really wanted MSI's Gaming 970, my MSI Twin Frozr 560 Ti is going solid for 3.5 years now, no issues.

but as of now it isn't available in my country, also I am in confusion about MSI's support here, anyway thats another thing

Only Asus Strix and Zotac's 3 970 models are launched

I will also pick between MSI Gaming or Gigabyte Windforce

Finally got PS4 Pro

Moved to Graphics Cards.

About EVGA noise - that's the problem only for people in the room beside you.

Asus - I think it would be more suitable for low noise level solutions then, um, "budget enthusiast" rig.

Overclocking - EVGA comes with overclocking too, you just need extra 10/20/30 bucks.

PS Yeah, I'm EVGA fanboy :D

I was in the same shoes as you since the release and I have to say after looking everywhere and checking all benchmarks I can get my hands on to I decided to get the MSI gaming 4g
For the following reasons
According to almost all benchmarks it is the best over clocker out there along with The g1.
Unlike the g1 it have passive cooling that I find pretty neat and it cools very good at the highest overclocks you can get
Gigabyte had a lot of issues in there 700 series fans and that worries me unlike MSI
I am kind of an EVGA fan and most of the time I go with EVGA but this time I have to say that MSI did one hell of a card that getting any other is a crime
Asus cooling is great but all benchmarks gives shady overclock results with the card
The only bad thing about the MSI is the back Plate and I don't mind that since they still have a heat pipe there to keep everything cool and it looks great without it anyway
I just thought to share my thoughts to all of you out there because I had to read until my eyes hurt :P
Oh and one last thing it's smaller than the Asus and The G1 as it takes less than 2 pci lanes while the rest takes 2 and the G1 is much longer so it will be way better for future sli
