Do you have icons on your desktop?

-ism

Hey guys,

As I was laying here today I was wondering if anyone else (I'm sure there are people) kept their desktop completely spotless as I do. Nothing at all touches my desktop except for the obnoxious recycle bin.

So, my question is, what is your philosophy when it comes to desktop icons? Do you arrange them in a specific way? Do you have any at all?

I try to keep it clean, however when i'm working on a project, files are scattered across both my monitors.

there's very little that actually stays there permanently, but what does:

Recycle Bin, a shortcut to a folder that I use multiple times on a daily basis, and a shortcut to a custom version of Minecraft (which, I could probably delete as I haven't used it in well over six months :P)

I only have shortcuts on my desktop. They are also organised into, general, system tuning, main gaming, and production groups

How many computer programmers does it take to change a light bulb?

None, that's a hardware problem.  :D

I put everything on the desktop, that way I don't have bother going through any menus when I want to launch a program.

I have arranged a certain way. I have useful things like GPU-Z, CPU-Z and coretemp on the left near the bin, different types of programs on different lines. GPU or CPU info, or storage info programs, all have their own lines.

Most played games are in a small cluster on the right.

Spoiler

Case Bitfenix Ghost, Mobo Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, CPU i7 6700K @4.2 Ghz cooled by Arctic cooling Freezer i30, (barely). GPU Nvidia GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 @1519Mhz core, RAM 16Gb Crucial Ballistix CL16 @2400Mhz. SSD 128GB Sandisk Ultra Plus as my OS drive. HDD's  1TB  Seagate ST31000524AS its OEM, 3TB Seagate Barracuda, 2x 500GB WDC Blue (RAID 0)

If it isn't working absolutely perfectly, according to all your assumptions, it is broken.

nope not a single icon, not even recycle bin

Although I am planning to put some back and arrange them using fences, then you can double click the desktop to hide or show icons

so it retains the clean look but it means having a clean taskbar and no start menu usage

There are no icons on my personal PC's though if there were they would be properly organized and there couldn't be more than two full rows.

There are 4 columns of icons on my desktop. I don't put any useless stuff on it, but I find being able to access a program without using the start menu very comfortable.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*
