Soundbar for TV in a small space

MammothJerk
Go to solution Solved by Stagea,

ive been looking at some speaker systems but i cannot find anything that would seem to fit me well.

when laying in bed and watching movies and playing games i would like a bit more oomph then just the standard tv speakers. i wanna feel and hear the explosions and rumbling with my body not just my ears.

im not sure how a 5.1 system would work since my bed is in a very enclosed space (see image below)

so im guessing a normal 2 speaker & bass box system would work best.

i use my tv with my computer and my consoles, i watch movies/music/games but never normal tv programming.

ive heard about bass shakers that you put under the leg of whatever youre sitting on. but im thinking with a good bass that wouldnt really be necessary or would it?

the budget isnt really a problem, i could go 1k+ if that would help.

i live in a house quite out of the way so noise/vibrations for neighbours shouldnt be a problem.

i got a suggestion for edifier s530D or the s730 aswell as a soundbar with a sub

That's a bit limiting in terms of space. Do you have a shelf for a small AV Receiver? If not, then maybe something like this might work:

If you do have space for an AV Receiver, a passive sattelite set might work.

Umm, please tell me that is a Murphy Bed, if not, you have small room.

Maybe try looking into a sound bar, such as this samsung one:http://www.samsung.com/us/video/home-audio/HW-H450/ZA

It includes a wireless subwoofer, so you can place it anywhere you want, such as under your bed.

Maybe look at trying to wall mount you tv to free up some space...

it is not a muprhy bed, i believe the exact dimension are 120x200cm

and yes my room is small =)

it seems a soundbar is getting suggested quite a bit and i could probably fit it below the table my tv is on =), would that samsung one be one of the better ones? and if ther is another soundbar id prefer it to be 110-120cm in iwdth so it'd look uniform with my bed

i remember seeing a "buttkicker" a long time ago and i thought it looked cool, is it worth looking in to? https://www.shakemycouch.com/cinema

Yes, there are better soundbars available, how much $$$ do you feel comfortable spending?

Also, personally: i'm not a fan of "buttkickers". They provide more vibration than is comfortable for most people.

the upper limit should be about 1500-2000 but don't limit yourself if there's something a few hundred bucks more =)

Then this is perfect: http://www.harmankardon.com/estore/hk/us/products/Sabre-SB-35/SB35%20SABRE_HK_US?skuId=SABRE35AM_HK_US&searchMode=regularProductOnly&sCatId=cat370054

It is by Harman/Kardon. Its width is 1150 mm which is right smack in the middle of what you wanted between 110cm and 120cm. It only costs $999. It also has a wireless subwoofer.

It also has Bluetooth, so you can play music from your phone, if you deem necessary.

The Harman is heavy on the bass, not sure if you like that, if you don't then take a look this Sony soundbar: http://store.sony.com/hd-soundbar-with-wireless-subwoofer-zid27-HTST7/cat-27-catid-All-Sound-Bars

Just over $1000, and is 1080 mm in size, close enough, here is a review of the Sony HTST7: http://www.cnet.com/products/sony-ht-st7/
